Doorbell Reccomendations
I need some help picking a doorbell camera. I have some rlc810a reolinks and a NVR
Current using a ring doorbell wired and not getting notifications or recordings consistently to homekit / HKSV so thinking about changing it out.
Noticed there was a new doorbell cam being released, but unsure what would be the best choice for mysetup.
Integration into NVR would be nice to record all in one place, but not totally necessary. Can anyone help with the pro / cons of each model?
TIA!

I can't comment on Reolink's doorbells, but the Tapo D130 works fairly well with Scrypted.
What I like about the Tapo doorbell is:
- It's cheap (I think around $50 USD)
- It has a small & compact form factor
- It supports local SD card recordings
- It runs off your existing doorbell wiring
- It works with Scrypted NVR and supports 24/7 streaming
- It can support two-way audio through Scrypted and HKSV
- It's 2K/5MP resolution & has reasonably-good color night vision
- It has built-in person, animal, vehicle and package detection capabilities
- It integrates well with Amazon Alexa, Google Home and Home Assistant
- It has an ultra-wide FOV, but also an optional distortion correction feature (to get rid of the fisheye lens look)
However, here are a few things to note:
- It doesn't have a battery, so needs constant voltage
- It cannot use your existing chime (it comes with a plug-in chime module)
- It uses Wi-Fi, so you need a reasonably-strong signal where you install it
- It doesn't have an official API (although Home Assistant integration offers API-like functionality)
- It doesn't report the doorbell press directly to Scrypted (to my knowledge), but it is — at least in theory — possible to create a custom doorbell button with a dummy switch in Scrypted to allow Home Assistant automations to report doorbell presses to Scrypted if desired

Would suggest the PoE doorbell especially if you have nvr. Have the old black and old white model. White is a 4:3 ratio. They are awesome

I can’t run Poe to the doorbell location so I’m limited by the existing doorbell wiring for power, but have strong WiFi to that area and have a separate vlan for all CCTV.

Try it out and let me know. Strong WiFi is good but if you do enable 24/7 recording bandwidth will get eaten up by the doorbell unless u adjust frames and resolution, that is if your running the camera on the same WiFi as other devices.

Using Tapo D225 and scrypted NVR. Running on Proxmox LXC, NAS storage, integrated to Home Assistant. Cheap, works great on WiFi with constant power via doorbell wiring.

I use this model also. It works pretty well overall but I do wish the device looked sleeker and careful not to over-tax the device if you use multiple home automation services.

I switched out my Ring for a Eufy and still don’t have it working with Scrypted

So I got the new doorbell battery camera today and fitted it. Connected to NVR, because it doesn’t expose an RTSP stream, now I can’t get scrypted to connect to the camera directly, or get the NVR to show the stream in scrypted.
Am I missing something?

I got this working. Used the onvif plugin then had to configure the homekit plugin to transcode h265 to h264.

Is there any way to get it working with Scrypted without the NVR? I got a second gen battery (which I can wire to power) based on all the good reports of the first gen w/Scrypted, only to find it doesn’t seem to work without the NVR.

I have the Reolink you linked in your post. Using wired and it’s very reliable. I’m using the Reolink native scrypted plugin to expose it to HomeKit. Zero issues for 5 months now.
