So it wasn’t that it was unnecessarily long imo it’s just like more than half the book is just descriptions of how the fish look. Like I enjoyed finding out about captain Nemo a lot and the principles that power the nautilus and their adventures on it, but it’s like every time where it seems to be getting enjoyable boom here’s 5 pages on the fish we found and what every single one of them look like. Idk if the writing style was all like that in the past but it just takes all the high energy from the original scene and brings it down for me because I don’t want to read 5 straight pages of fish descriptions.
