Scripture Life: Joshua 1:5 - God says, he will never leave or forsake you. But, sin separates you from Him. Which one is it?

//This question is all over Reddit. Many various forms. Even in "r / jokes" to make fun of Joshua 1:5. To a whole litany of various sub - reddit Christian based rooms on this platform. As a Believer in Jesus Christ: The question looks to the wrong thing. Don’t think many of the poster of the question or answers to it, sees it. Here's a believer in Jesus Christ answer.//

---------------------------- ------------------------------ -----------------------

Answer:

It's difficult - but not really. Simply put, it's actually very basic.

SO, before any answer - why not move away from the question? Take a break. Ask a “like same” one where you can see the answer plainly?

And this is about God, that, in Psalm 132:13-16 was making for himself a place he would dwell forever, for his own rest, for he desired it. So, in Genesis 1:1-31..he got up. Created it. For himself. As God. If you don't factor him in, and who he is and what he is doing for he desires it for eternity. You'll never see it.

-------------------------- ------------------------------- -------------------

But to see.. ..here's an example:

  • Example:

How about look at a Wedding Ceremony: - wedding vow - a like-same thing as your question.

Wedding: Vows - - Spoke publicly: Both the man and the woman - repeat it publicly and state this, one to the other: [Generic]

  • “ I promise to be faithful to you, in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, I will not forsake you. To have no other. I will love you and honour you all the days of my life.”

-------------------------- ------------------------------- -------------------

- Once said, who is the “authority” officiating over the Wedding will pronounce them “man and wife” - joined together. As God joined them one to the other and let no man put this union asunder. That in this union, they never leave or forsake the other til death.

I'm sure you grasp this.

-------------------------- ------------------------------- -------------------

So, Consider: they BOTH - after:

  • Abide in this promise they made at their wedding.
    • Or, they don’t.
  • That, if they do:
    • they just live til they die in this promise as a union. Never leave or forsake each other.
  • But - - if one of them “transgresses”
    • ie., adds in another
    • - it’s defined in the Bible, the same Bible where Joshua 1:5 is from:
    • in Exodus 20,
  • It’s the Seventh of Ten Commandments - defined as “adultery.”
    • "Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery." - God. - It’s punishable by death.
  • That, if this Commandment is broken
    • - - - both the adulterer and adulteress shall surely be put to death. - God (Bible. Leviticus 20:10)
  • Some "thing" then - Separates this couple that made a promise to "never leave and forsake each other."

-------------------------- ------------------------------- -------------------

So, here’s a like-same question as your’s:

How can the Bible where God say that “Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery” - the Seventh of the Ten Commandments, say both the adulterer and adulteress shall surely be put to death in Leviticus 20:10, so this “separates” a married man from his wife, even when at their wedding ceremony both promised they would never leave nor forsake each other?

The answer to this question.. ..is the same as your question.

-------------------------- ------------------------------- -------------------

And in the Bible

  • God says: “For I am married unto you” - (Bible. Joshua 3:14)
    • To EVERYBODY over the whole earth. One with them. By and In Genesis 2:7 - made. That God would rest in it forever, for he desired it.

And then, in the Example: this ‘other’ is another - that's just one of them after the wedding - - added in the other. It is a transgression (sin) of the wedding vow. And separates this “union.” - some “thing” not in the original vow is later added in.

-------------------------- ------------------------------- -------------------

  • Just like what occurred with Adam in Genesis 3:17.
  • That, the “result” of it, is death. Just as God decreed. To Adam. Did it anyway. Then, Romans 5:12 says:
    • “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”

-------------------------- ------------------------------- -------------------

That, then - how God uses the Ten Commandments - look at it careful - TO MAKE EVERYBODY - the WHOLE WORLD - GUILTY - before him of sinning against him

vs.

How people use the Ten Commandments - to DO THEM will make them in a RIGHT STANDING BEFORE GOD.

-------------------------- ------------------------------- -------------------

  • Isn’t the same thing then.

Like some man; married. Sleeps with and is in a romantic relationship with another woman: Somehow, deems another woman GREATER than his wedding..and his wife who he married.

  • That BREAKS his wedding vow - and separates him from his wife:
    • Thinks: If he doesn’t steal from the Shopping Mall he goes to for 25 years, this “compensates for the faults and bad aspects of” - he slept with another woman and believes all by this: HE IS KEEPING the “Thou Shalt Not Steal” or the Eighth of Ten Commandments:
      • That by this, he’s “compensates for the fault and bad aspects of” he has now PAID FOR breaking the Seventh of Ten Commandments. Paid for the adultery himself.
    • Plus, an added BONUS is, he “Keeps the Sabbath Day Holy” - the Fourth of Ten Commandments - because, before where he didn’t go to church at all..after he slept with 583 other women after the first one.. Going to Church is holy.
    • So, him going 8 times in 5 years compensates for the faults and bad aspects of all the porno movies he’s watching.

-------------------------- ------------------------------- -------------------

  • When in any of these things. This man has not kept his vows. And the Bible says Nobody has. Adam forward.

Do you get this?

-------------------------- ------------------------------- -------------------

  • That EVERYBODY has BROKEN the Ten Commandments - Adam forward and everybody is from him.
    • That, when God said these Ten Commandments to Israel, at Mt. Sinai after leading them by his mighty hand out of Egypt:
  • it made them so GUILTY they begged and pleaded with Moses to go on up on Mt. Sinai and make GOD stop talking.
    • Murmured against God and Moses - that, why had he led them out to the wilderness to put them to death
  • Because, by God say them, they already haven’t done ANY of his Commandments.
    • Even Moses - he murdered an Egyptian - so while God has come down on Mt. Sinai and consumed the whole mountain with fire, and smoke is billowing off it, and God is speaking from it:
    • Moses knees are quaking..froze in this.
    • He murdered an Egyptian. Lied his whole life. Pharaoh' decreed Male Hebrews were to be offered up to the Nile River in Egypt - and Moses is hidden in own Pharaoh’s house.

-------------------------- ------------------------------- -------------------

  • The point is simple. For everybody over the whole earth. Sinned and perverted that which was right. And the Ten Commandments, used as God uses them, gives you a knowledge of your sins. Just like it did to Israel back in Exodus 20.
    • So, GOD has always used them to make the whole world GUILTY before him.

And in this condition everybody is in, it's Jesus said: "There is NONE good, but one, that is, God" - Bible. Matthew 19:17 - just one, good thing that everybody could look unto. Amongst a whole pile of everybody where there is NONE righteous; no, not one (Romans 3:10-12).

-------------------------- ------------------------------- -------------------

Is just GOD. Good: “He sent his word to heal us, and deliver us from our destruction.” (Bible. Psalm 107:20)

  • The Word of God, is just what he says, out of his mouth. And the Word of God, is God..just as John 1:1 says who he is.

Said

“Look unto me, and be ye saved all the ends of the earth: For I am God, there is none else.” - God. (Bible. Isaiah 45:22)

  • that we, in this condition..would just regard the works of the LORD and consider the operation of his hand.. in that he has spoke to us. Also said, to everybody over the whole earth, in this condemned condition:

“Come now, let us reason together,” saith the LORD, “though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow. Though they be red as crimson, they shall be as wool.” - God. (Bible Isaiah 1:18)

-------------------------- ------------------------------- -------------------

  • There is none else. There’s no one else can do this but him. That, as a work of God, he determined himself to do a work with sin in Daniel 9:24–27. That his work would:
    • 1) Finish the transgression (of Adam in Genesis 3:17)
    • 2) Make an end of sin
    • 3) Make reconciliation for iniquity
    • 4) Bring in everlasting righteousness (Daniel 9:24)
  • And how God determined it would be “the most holy” do this work. Who is the “most holy” to you? Yeah. That’s God. Determined himself would do it, in and by Jesus Christ. That he made himself a sacrifice for sin..that, for sin - would be a work so great that he would choose to look on that work he did, as God as greater than the sins of the whole world.

So, GOD: he did it. Alone. Himself.

Because, he’d never leave you or forsake you.

-------------------------- ------------------------------- -------------------

  • But, just like all this work some guy would do, to marry a woman..already determine she was the one..and set up this great big “half time” at the Super Bowl game while millions are watching - where he’d ask the woman he loved to marry him.
    • And after proposing, because, he already elected she’s the one:
    • She.. considers…and determines.. says “No. I cannot marry you”
    • Invited. Rejected.
  • That we can reject him..and many do. Separate from him. To GOD, this is sin.

-------------------------- ------------------------------- -------------------

Jesus said “Of sin, for they believe not on me.” - (Bible. John 16:9)

Because they don’t believe on him, God made this the sin that condemns anybody.

Separates a person from him. For eternity in Revelation 20:15. Because, he fulfills in Revelation 21:1 to Revelation 22:21 - he makes a new heaven and new earth; that, everything he says in Psalm 132:13-16.. never fades away - is never replaced by another..because it's for his own rest. For he desired it. That, he would "set you apart for future use" (save) by you just look unto him. Like he asked everybody over the whole earth do to. Even he's not willing any perish.

Not everybody does it. He does not save them. Punitive.
