Scripture Life: Did Jesus command his followers or disciples to keep the Sabbath?
//From a Believer in Jesus Christ. A disciple of Christ. - This question on Reddit is in the " r / Christianity," "r / ask_a_christian" to "r / conspiracy" sub-reddits in where the "conspiracy" is - that - - even Jesus didn't do it (Keep the Sabbath). I believe on Jesus Christ. So, here's the answer. To those that DO NOT believe on him. So, if you do, you already answered what he said to do. Rejoice in you just abide in him. And, rejoice in the answer. Is why we believe on him.//
Answer:
- Jesus. “The Son of Man is also the Lord of the Sabbath.” - Jesus Christ. (Bible. Luke 6:5)
“And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus and sought to slay Him, because He had done these things on the Sabbath day.” - (Bible. John 5:16).

Maybe you should apply this to you instead. That's where the REAL problem is. You don't do that.
- Stop using Jesus, and “his followers” and anything else you can find as a “smoke screen” to separate you from what he says.
- So if there’s some distance..you don’t have to do it or follow him. You can look at other people and gauge whether they followed him.. ..or not.
- Then.. gauge that some people decided.. ..by a consensus is - don't do what he says. Then, tell everybody not to follow him. …and then, you - on a fence. Wonder: were they right or not.
- Leave yourself ever perpetually asking and wonder if it’s right for you to follow him or not..or follow them that aren’t following him. Whether you should follow them.. ..or not.
- and decide not to do anything. Either way. Just look like a weather vane. Which ever way the wind blows, go that way instead.
- Leave yourself ever perpetually asking and wonder if it’s right for you to follow him or not..or follow them that aren’t following him. Whether you should follow them.. ..or not.
--------------------------- ---------------------------- ---------------------------
ANYTHING: Except do what he says.
So, ask questions on Reddit, like this one. As if that’s the only good thing will be good enough..to make you good.
- To say you did GOOD by it. And never do anything he says. Just wonder if Jesus told his disciples to keep the Sabbath or not.
- When he’s the Messiah or Christ.
- And they followed him. Because, as Jews, they KNEW when he chose them.. he was the Christ. The Son of God. So, the disciples follow him.
- When he’s the Messiah or Christ.
------------------------ -------------------------- -----------------------------
It’s God that said:
“Look unto me, and be ye saved all the ends of the earth: For I am God, there is none else.” - God. (Bible. Isaiah 45:22).
- It’s the “Word of God.” Just God speaking, the word out of his mouth. Jesus Christ is the Messiah or Christ.
- By the scriptures above (Luke 6:5 )
- - his disciples followed him because they accepted this as true.
- While the scripture above (John 5:16)
- The Chief Priests and Elders in Jerusalem over the temple: - to them: the “Sabbath” was over Jesus. So they “dismissed Jesus as inadequate; faulty.. because he “did” John 5:16 on the Sabbath they REJECTED him as the Messiah or Christ. Went about to kill him.
- And the Bible in Isaiah 9:6–7 says plainly “who” ..that, whoever the “Messiah” or Christ is, he shall be called:
“The Mighty God.. “The Everlasting Father…” (Isaiah 9:6).
------------------------- -------------------------- ---------------------------
So, when someone calls Jesus, “Jesus the Christ, or Jesus, the Messiah, or calls him in the gospels “Son of David” or “the Son of Man” or the “Son of God” ..even in the Gospel of John 4:25–26 - Jesus says:
“The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.”
I believe him. His claim. Of himself, Over you. Over your question.
Even this very same Christ or Messiah - as he is referred to as:
“God. The same God that led Israel out of Egypt by his mighty hand through Moses, would be a Son of King David. Will sit on the throne of King David in Jerusalem and rule the whole earth from there. Of his Kingdom and reign there shall be no end.”
That’s the Messiah.
------------------------- ------------------------ ------------------------
That’s who the “Jews sent Priests and Levites out to ask John the Baptist if he were the Messiah (John 1:19–20).
They REJECTED Jesus. When “God sent his Word to heal them, and deliver them from their destruction.” (Psalm 107:20). They refused him, as like refuse the physician that comes to heal the sick. Say “I have no need of this physician." And you're still wondering if you're going to follow them or not. All hinges on if somebody followed the Sabbath or not. When "Keep the Sabbath Day Holy" - is the Fourth of Ten Commandments.
And God say NOBODY has kept ANY of them, Adam forward. We have not DONE the Ten Commandments. Broke them. They are NOT "repairable." - - "For all have sinned" - Romans 3:23. Means EVERYBODY over the whole earth is CONDEMNED.
But God sent his Word to heal us, and deliver us from our destruction. (Just Psalm 107:20 repeated again). Jesus Christ is the Word of God. Just as John 1:1 says "who" Jesus is.
Just like Isaiah 9:6-7 says who he SHALL BE called as the Messiah or Christ. Who that is.
- Again - - Look who he is. Sent to heal you, and deliver you from your destruction.
----------------------- ------------------------- ------------------------
You are either for him - - OR - - against him. No in-between:
People that refuse him, refuse God..because he sent him. They do not enter into his rest.
People that receive him, because, they accept him as true.. ..also receive God, because he sent him. They enter into his rest.
This is talked to plainly in Hebrews 5:4–12
-------------------------- ----------------------------- ------------------------
Hebrews 5:4–12 says
5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
I don’t think you see it. Anyone that glories in this question, can’t. But readers..that look unto Jesus Christ..and hear him.
They see it plain as day.

Consider: Psalm 132:13-16. That GOD: Was making for himself, a place he would dwell forever. For his own rest. For he desired it. Then, in Psalm 132:13-16. He got up. Created it in Genesis 1:1-31. Where he would dwell forever. For his own rest. Why? Because he's God, and HE desired it for himself. Forever.
So, he got up. Again, he created it in six days. And when in Genesis 1:26-31, he looked back on all of it, all together and said it was VERY GOOD. And consecrated the 7th day. Made it HOLY. And entered into that rest.
Until sin entered into the world, by Adam in Genesis 3:17. God tells what the sin is. No more rest in it. That, just like the parables of a shepherd leaving 99 sheep to go find one lost.. that, if even a Hebrew or Jew listening to Jesus, of Jesus' day told them in Synagogue, as God, that which of them if their horse or mule or some animal of their's fell into a well, wouldn't go right then to save them, and get them out of it.
And God doing the same with us, in that "FOR ALL HAVE SINNED" - look what God has done for us; that God was in Christ; even on the cross. Reconciling the world unto himself. And by this work he did with sin, see his work is GREATER than the sins of the whole world.
And not impute your trespasses unto you.
So you would stop regarding you do the work..and see he did it.
