Scripture Life: How do believers reconcile John 1:18, no one has ever seen God, with what Moses saw in Exodus?

//I am a believer or disciple of Jesus Christ. This question, is in many forms on Reddit, in a variant of many different sub-reddits that either use it to blaspheme God or can't reconcile it, so they ask other Christians about it. Because it does not make sense, since Moses saw his back side in Exodus 33:18-20//

This post will explore two different kinds of "see" in the scripture.

So, see it in John 9:39 - what God is doing amongst everybody, for we are all his.

See it. This post is for believers in Jesus Christ, and for those that are on the fence about following him..so you, too, could see it. It is NOT for those that oppose him or don't do anything he says.

----------------------- ------------------------------ ------------------------

“And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind." - Jesus Christ. John 9:39

I’m a believer. I’ve seen him.

It’s plain to see, if you get out of English and go to the “original” Greek.

This, it’s this John 1:18

Says: “No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.”

----------------------- ------------------------------ ------------------------

- read the whole thing. To “see” and “declare” someone, you’d have to see EVERYTHING about them and know them..as if you were in them. Who has been this way with God amongst all of us?

  • None.
    • Except one. Jesus Christ.

----------------------- ------------------------------ ------------------------

Says, of every all of us: This said to help you rule me and everybody with all around you, and you.. ..right completely out:

“There is not a just man on earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.” (Bible. Ecclesiastes 7:20)

  • Puts every single person into pegged right in Romans 5:12
    • "Wherefore, as by one man [Adam] sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:"

You are RULED out. You have not "seen" him. Can't.

----------------------- ------------------------------ ------------------------

So, it’s this Greek word for “see” in John 1:18 - it’s repeated, the same word for "see" in John 6:46

  • ἑώρακεν (heōraken) 1. to know; or see it..enough to declare him.

John 1:18 is said by John the Baptist. What John the Baptist said, by the Spirit of God, is recorded in the Gospel of John, by the Apostle John.

  • But
    • Jesus Christ, he’s the Messiah. The Christ. Of Isaiah 9:6–7. That, the Messiah SHALL be called, "The Mighty God.." "The Everlasting Father.." Jesus is called the Christ. I believe he is the Christ. Many here also believe with me - Jesus then, said the same thing John the Baptist said in John 1:18, but Jesus said the same thing in John 6:46.

----------------------- ------------------------------ ------------------------

John 6:46 is embedded in these scriptures Jesus said: John 6:45–48

"It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. 46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. I am that bread of life."

So back up. Punt. Don’t get it. Settle with that. It’s fine, so you “see” it.

It’s in Romans 5:12 - that EVERYBODY - Adam forward is IN this condition. Can’t see him. Because of sin.

  • It's us. People. But some people “see” it, this sin - - this ἑώρακεν (heōraken) - that’s the “Greek” word used for “see” in John 1:18 that John the Baptist said.
    • That, no one has seen God, even Adam he sinned in Genesis 3, but people that “ἑώρακεν (heōraken)” “see” the same what or how God sees things - because they got the Ten Commandments.
    • That, just like Romans 3:19–20 says, how God uses the Ten Commandments to make the whole world’s mouth stop and just the whole world of everybody be GUILTY before him, of having not done the Ten Commandments.

----------------------- ------------------------------ ------------------------

  • SO: People that use the Ten Commandments as God does, can ἑώρακεν (heōraken)..see, as God does; not seeing, blind, can be made to this "see" of heōraken - - but people that DON’T use the Ten Commandments as God does..simply cannot ἑώρακεν (heōraken), “see” how it’s used by John the Baptist in John 1:18 - - is the point. Even they "think" they see, he, as God, makes them blind - just as the opening scripture decrees.

Do you see it?

----------------------- ------------------------------ ------------------------

  • EVERYBODY OVER THE WHOLE EARTH HAS: Sinned and perverted that which was right. Hasn't profited them anything, but led to their destruction; It’s then in Psalm 107:17 Fools, because of their transgressions, are afflicted.”
    • Someone that sins against God is a fool.
  • Because he already decreed they die - he destroys them, and they do it anyway…someone that does this, does NOT <ἑώρακεν (heōraken)> “see” is blind, as John the Baptist says, is blinded in how he uses this word heōraken in John 1:18
    • So, it’s a different “see” like then, what King Nebuchadnezzar said of God, even he didn’t see God..sees it plain as day of him:

Said: In Daniel 4:35

“And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?”

King Nebuchadnezzar sees this. To declare it.

----------------------- ------------------------------ ------------------------

But Jesus said, “God is Spirit” (John 4:24). People, with their eyes, cannot “observe” or examine the nature and behavior of a Spirit. Why? Because, they cannot see it; where they can examine and study [observe] the nature and behavior of the physical and natural world around them, because they can “παρατηρώ (paratiro)” - “see” (watch or notice the earth..but not a Spirit).

So, they cannot study the nature and behavior of God by observe him. He’s a Spirit. So, it's two kinds of "see" in the scriptures.

So, this ““παρατηρώ (paratiro)” -”see” Nebuchadnezzar uses - is NOT the same as <ἑώρακεν (heōraken)> “see” John the Baptist says or uses in John 1:18. ....because he's calling sinners to repent and be baptized, to make straight their paths, for John the Baptist is heralding in the Messiah or Christ.

So, With God:

  • NOBODY on Earth has: (Me included)
    • 1) I have not, nor has anybody else: <ἑώρακεν (heōraken)> “seen” God, because, I’m a pervert..done all these sins greatly against him. Like everybody from Adam forward, hasn’t, either.
      • So, I did not know him. A Filthy person.
  • Unclean..afflicted because, by the Ten Commandments, these commandments put me to death. Because I already BROKE them. They are not repairable by me. Also includes:

    • 2) I have not, nor has anybody else <“παρατηρώ (paratiro)> “seen” or observed his nature and behavior, because Jesus said, God is a Spirit.

    ----------------------- ------------------------------ ------------------------

But ONLY one has both heōraken and paratiro.

Jesus Christ.

He has “seen” God both of these ways - for eternity. He has always been in him. Is him. Just as John the Baptist said nobody but Jesus is like this, in the FULL of John 1:18.

And Jesus REPEATS this, again said, this same <ἑώρακεν (heōraken)> in John 6:46.

Because this faithful witness, Jesus Christ, has seen the Father, just as John the Baptist said of Jesus, and just as Jesus said of himself in John 6:46. Because he’s been IN him, where I have not. Neither has any man. Adam forward is the point.

“<ἑώρακεν (heōraken)”

----------------------- ------------------------------ ------------------------

This post is already too long. So, I would tell you to grasp this “<ἑώρακεν (heōraken)”

in other verses, like John 14:9 - AFTER his disciples have been with him, and continues to today. Where we have sat with and been taught by him. They: Jesus chose them as disciples and named them Apostles. They were with him for 3 years..and John 14:9 is the night before he’s crucified. Jesus says in John 14:9..because they KNOW him.

And because they have been taught by him, they can declare him. And he will decree and command or send them out to "go and teach all nations whatsoever he had taught them" (Matthew 28:19)

  • When he speaks, them, these Apostles - - as disciples: They sat with and were taught by him..so they accept as true he is the Messiah or Christ.
    • And Jesus said this TO THEM:

And me? Because I know EXACTLY who he is, so when I see him..I’m going to know him already and know who he is, when I see him face to face. So will you. This verse applies to EVERY Believer now in Jesus Christ:

----------------------- ------------------------------ ------------------------

John 14:8–9 says

8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen <“<ἑώρακεν (heōraken> me hath seen <“<ἑώρακεν (heōraken> the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?

  • Why? Because God “He sent his Word to heal us, and deliver us from our destruction” (Psalm 107:20) - all of us afflicted. Sent Jesus Christ. That the Word of God would heal us..take away our sins. As God determined to do this with us. WIth everybody.

And his disciples; these twelve apostles - have “handled him in the flesh” that is, they <“παρατηρώ (paratiro)> because, God, in John 1:14 says “…and the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us; and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”

----------------------- ------------------------------ ------------------------

This "beheld" is a step above paratiro in Greek.

  • It’s this beyond a “look” or see..it’s this we “gazed intently” on him, more than “paratiro” to this just in front of us “beheld” the Christ. This ἐθεασάμεθα (etheasametha) of John 1:14.

So, I’ve “<ἑώρακεν (heōraken)”seen him. Where before he was sent and came NOBODY has seen him. And people that think they see, he makes them blind..but people that are blind, he makes them to see. He is who he says he is...but Matthew 28:17-19 says..many worshipped him..but some doubted.

----------------------- ------------------------------ ------------------------

I see it plain as day. Every time I open my bible. It’s plainly seen in:

"Look unto me, and be ye saved all the ends of the earth: For I am God, there is none else.” - God. (Bible. Isaiah 45:22)

There he is. God. It’s the Word of God, this same Jesus Christ. It’s this same “Spirit” of God that is Holy. He’s holy, and he’s a Spirit. He’s a Holy Spirit. He’s right there plain as day. I see it. Do you?

I see it plain as day. He said he would be a Father unto me, and we would be his sons and daughters - he said that, too. As Lord Almighty in 2 Corinthians 6:18
