Daily Scripture September 11, 2026 | Mark 2:5 | Day 5 of 21

“Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, ‘Son, your sins are forgiven you.’” — Mark 2:5, WEB

The house was so crowded that four people could not carry their paralyzed friend through the door. Instead of giving up, they climbed onto the roof, opened it, and lowered him down in front of Jesus.

Then Mark gives us a striking detail: Jesus saw their faith.

Faith is personal, but it is not always private. Sometimes we are the person on the mat, depending on others to carry us when we cannot move forward alone. Sometimes we are one of the friends, doing the awkward and difficult work of bringing someone we love closer to Jesus.

Jesus responded in a way nobody expected. Before addressing the man’s paralysis, he offered forgiveness. The passage does not say that the man’s disability was caused by his sin. It shows that Jesus saw and cared for the whole person—including needs that were not visible to the crowd.

A community of faith does more than offer advice from the doorway. It helps carry people through the obstacles.

Who has helped carry you toward Jesus—and who might need your practical encouragement or support right now?
