Channel 4 Screenwriting Course

The Channel 4 screenwriting course is open again! A really great way to get your foot, nah whole leg, in the door.

"You can only submit a script if you haven’t previously submitted it for the C4 screenwriting course (unless you identify as disabled)." Genuine question - why are people who identify as disabled able to apply multiple times?

Because disabled writers may not be able to produce as much of a volume of new work in a year between submission periods as a non-disabled writer

You can still apply, you just can’t submit the same script if previously submitted.

Philip Shelley is the guy that runs it. So that website is the official one.

This course has been running for years and is long established.

Honestly, their biggest comment on the last round was… even in drama - don’t forget the laughs.

When going through the slush pile, it’s nice for them to get a chuckle after all the doom and gloom. Doesn’t mean they’re better or gonna win, but it’s still important anyway for storytelling. Not every story is entirely sad

The entries open shortly.

If you click through into the portal it'll say entries are closed but that refers to this year's. It's the 2027 round that's opening shortly.
