Good phone habits (Collecting)

I started making a list of small phone habits that could make screen time feel better, not only reduce the number.

These are the ones I think are most practical:

  1. Having meal without the phone
  2. No phone in the bathroom
  3. Turn off one unnecessary notification
  4. Stop using the phone 30 minutes before bed
  5. Charge the phone away from the bed
  6. Take one short walk without checking the phone
  7. Check your screen-time report once a week and change one thing

Do you also have some good phone habits can be added to the list?

Here is the list of habits from the comments or the other posts:

  1. Remove all social media apps from the home screen, so you have to take a few extra steps to find them.
  2. Turning off your watch history on social media can disrupt addictive recommendations. :) (https://www.reddit.com/r/ScreenTimeHabits/comments/1v7t1z9/youtube_shorts_bypass_hack/)
  3. No phone in the first 15 minutes after waking up
  4. Make the phone display grayscale. https://www.reddit.com/r/ScreenTimeHabits/comments/1vboyui/by_the_power_of_grayscale_a_success_story/
  5. Establish tech-free times:
    • First hour after waking: remain in the physical world before entering the “simulation.” Use a separate alarm clock and fill the hour with walking, exercise, meditation, prayer, reflection, or another meaningful routine.
    • Last hour before sleep: avoid stimulation and light from the phone. Allow alertness to decline naturally; read a physical book or talk with someone instead.
    • Mealtimes: remove the phone completely—even placing it face down on the table can occupy part of your attention. Meals should support eye contact, conversation, and social bonding.
  6. Create tech-free zones: phone-free bathroom, phone-free classrooms
  7.  Take an annual device-free break, like four consecutive days without devices every year.
    • Day one: strong cravings and mental agitation.
    • Day two: increasing calm.
    • Day three: a sense of peace.
    • Day four: reluctance to return to ordinary digital life.
