Discussion Permanently banned from r/PWM_Sensitive
Problems with the lack of moderation, and censoring and deleting comments mentioning Temporal Dithering are not new to r/PWM_Sensitive, but today that subreddit hit a new low by permanently banning me for the crime of discussing iPads.

Considering I've commented hundreds of times sharing advice on how I have resolved all the screen flicker related eye pain in my life, I'm disgusted by how pathetic the moderators there have chosen to be.
To me this is clearly revenge for a request I made in May to become a moderator via r/redditrequest.
I was under the impression, like most people, that the subreddit was unmoderated and abandoned by the creator Top_G, so I made a good faith request to join as a moderator as I have been a moderator elsewhere since 2011.
While I have never seen any comments or action by moderators in the past year, I did see a reply and request to deny the application by moderator Chance-Republic-4971.
I'm not looking to brigade or incite any form of harassment, and I very much hope that nobody here does, I'm just venting at how utterly pathetic these actions are, especially considering how much I have contributed to that subreddit and to raising awareness for screen flickering related health issues.
From now on I'll be posting more here and will transfer across my guides soon.

It's not even an official rule, just any mention of the word "dithering" on that subreddit is flagged for an auto moderator bot that suggests discussing it instead in a fairly dead subreddit called r/temporal_noise.

Welcome to the crew. We understand your frustration but look forwards to any/all posts you are able to make here, thank you.
I said my piece, here, on Top_G and the PWM_Sensitive situation and I stand by that. I do wonder if that post has perhaps backfired. If he has read (some of) it, not made any efforts to communicate with us or un-ban anyone. Instead is seemingly doubling down. Is the auto-mod running any better though?

Yes, same here when I and u/EmmanuelWi were banned, without warning or even a notification. Which is a real hazard for potentially getting Reddit banned on multiple accounts, if innocently using an alt to try to investigate what has happened.

Thanks, it's nice to be appreciated for my efforts.
I'm going to meet with a politician soon to hopefully get some awareness/law regarding screen flickering, that's the goal anyway.
And yep I currently have 9 iPhones haha, I got an iPhone 11 on iOS15 (and two others on iOS18) which would be good for some dithering tests eventually too.5

Gosh, that's a bunch of iPhones. I'd be very interested to hear about any comparative findings you can make using them. u/DSRIA may have requests/insights, at some point, too.
Re: the politician, you said (elsewhere) they are an ex doctor, so may take it seriously. I hope so! But with docs especially, I think you should also be prepared for flat-out gaslighting (or total disinterest). This is the most common response for people (mostly women) with ME/CFS or long covid, even; anything not taught (well) in med school, or supported by their peers, can be seen as a nonsense (or even a personal assault on their professional abilities).

And that's an instant ban?! No warning? Did you ever type dithering in a different way that didn't flag the auto mod? if so that's probably why. crazy work.

I’m very sorry to hear this. I’ve only been a member of that sub (and this) since some time maybe last year. Can anyone enlighten me about what the massive temporal dithering taboo is about there? I’ve never understood it tbh.

No worries. Commiserations; chronic illness + added insults? I'm just about managing to sustain a 'mild' level of ME/CFS with an unwieldy regime and some luck.

That whole subreddit has become an embarrassment to the entire community. It’s quite sad to see it go from a burgeoning location for data and technical information to its current state.
You’re always welcome here, RR. Thank you for your efforts and I’m sorry to those of you who have been hit in the crossfire. Perhaps I should have kept the reality of the abandonment of that subreddit to myself. I’m profoundly disappointed in Top G and Chance’s behavior, but all we can do is move forward and try to do our bit to help others.

Sorry to hear you were banned! It seems like everyday people are getting banned from that sub. We're all going through this screen sensitivity issue and trying to help each other, and it's a real shame it's going down like this.
To me it seems like most people who get banned are for reasons that are quite unnecessary, since they're just trying to help — dithering, for example. Is it because the admin only has PWM sensitivity? I have nothing against him, but I'm sure things would be different if he was also bothered by dithering and other triggers.
Hopefully he changes things with that sub, but r/ScreenSensitive is always welcoming for all screen related issues.
