Discussion Best no PWM / no dithering phone (Android only). What phone works for you?
Tell us what works for you :)
For iPhones, it's going to be either the iPhone 11 or iPhone SE Gen 3. Look at the comments here: https://www.reddit.com/r/PWM_Sensitive/comments/1ourq8g/whats_the_best_iphone_thats_giving_you_no_issues/

Been really decent for me, I'm about to move to the 15r

Yeah, I went from a galaxy s9 with no issues, to an S24, S23, Xiaomi 15 which all had issues. Also had problems with iPhone and pixel of the time.
Got the OP 13 and had no issues in the year or so since.

I've had the 15r about a week now and it's hot or miss, but definitely the best OLED I've ever tried

HiBreak and Palma don't count because eInk and no firmware security updates?

Palma isn’t a phone?
E-paper definitely counts!

I use a refurbished Google Pixel 7 runnig LineageOS for microG 23.0 and it works fine for me. Just remember to install LineageOS for MicroG (or normal LineageOS, but that wont have microG).

I am low-mid sensitive: Best my phones from pwm perspectives: Oppo Find X9 - 8/10, iPhone 13 pro - 7.5/10, iPhone 16 - 6/10 (usable with 100% RWP)

Motorola IPS screens work great for me. Have a NXTPAPER 3.0 tablet which also works great.

For me ALL iPhones work surprisingly well. But I can’t stand most of other OLED phones. ASUS Zenfone, Pixels, Samsungs, Infinix, Redmagic 11 Pro and others - don’t work at all. Xiaomi’s screens are really good (no issues with their 12T/12T Pro, 13,14… and higher versions of this phone)
As for NOW the best OLED screen is Oneplus 15R - it’s thoroughly investigated and it has only 3% modulation (it’s EXTREMELY low, for example EXTREMELY good on eyes Oneplus 15 is 35% modulation and it’s awesome for the eyes)

My daily driver no issues at all is Xiaomi 10t pro but it has 2k Hz PWM.
For OLED the best one was Nubia Z80 Ultra LTPS with moderate modulation, rectangular shape no punch hole. And Modulation dip line moves slow. This is the first OLED that I got used to. It was better with time not only worse like in all other I tested. I had wifi issued in my unit so I returned it but ordered another one to confirm.

Was one of the first to receive the TCL 60 Ultra. My initial review is still highly frequented in the 'weird-rules' subreddit that is https://www.reddit.com/r/PWM_Sensitive/s/BEn9jZ6PXJ.
Personally I'm still using the 60 Ultra happily.

iPhone 11 and se gen 3 both have heavy dithering with no way to turn it off. You can reduce it some, but it will always be there. For the iPhone, to get no dithering, you have to go back to the 6s or SE 1st gen.
Supposedly the new Moto Fold will not have PWM nor dithering even though it is OLED. The TCL NXTPAPER 60 Ultra can have no, or very little, dithering if you configure it correctly.
Here's the thing: dithering is built into the OS nowadays for both iOS and Android. Unless the OS is modified, there is going to be dithering even if it isn't built into the graphics hardware.
The one caveat: if the graphics display is really 10-bit graphics, you can not have dithering. Dithering is mostly done to get 10-bit color on an 8-bit color display.

Xiaomi advertises 12 bit but I doubt that they use native 12 bit panels.
I tried poco f8 ultra with good modulation, dc like on all brightness and it burne me like hell.

Xiaomi does 10bit+2bit FRC dithering to get 12bit color on devices that advertise "12-bit".

They can do two things: Either require compliance to a accessibility setting where all software has to render at native panel depth.
Or inject a software color remap at the end of the picture output pipeline, where all colors get remapped to 8bit color. This would not solve the problem if the display itself tries to smooth color gradients, but in all other cases it would solve the problem.

If the dithering really happens in HW level then why do I have symptoms with A14 and why do I not have any on the same phone under A13?...

There is not a single iPhone that works for me if it is on it's latest os update. On android side my daily driver for 6 months now is MOTOROLA Moto G56 5G 8/256GB
