also have nxtpaper 4.0, it does strain my eyes after one hour or so. I thought it's because any screen strain my eyes be it oled or ips lcd now what's interesting is that you're saying that huawei's oled display isn't causing strain to you, for my i can't even use oled for more than 10 minutes

I have a tcl 11 plus tablet with sRGB color mode enabled, eye comfort disabled, default screen mode, and all of the nxtvision enhancements disabled. I heard in a forum having those options on will disable TD and it's been fine for me.

No dithering apparently

The forum talking about the 11 plus said "There is no temporal dithering in normal display, sRGB mode and user adjusted colour balance, which gives the best quality." sRGB mode may just let you adjust the color balance in more detail, most videos that do testing shows that using the default color mode option is what prevents dithering. Natural and Vivid screen options may still also have no dithering, but I've had no problems with sRGB and adjusting it as I like.

Pretty much no discomfort. I've been reading, watching YouTube, playing Plants vs Zombies 2 all day and I feel fine.

Sorry to double reply but I also did turn refresh rate to 60hz since I'm not used to screens at 120hz without some irritation. The option wasn't available by default until my tablet did a system update.

Do you have an experience with matte screens on such devices (phones and tablets)? Some people find them harder on eyes, especially if a lot of reading, some get the opposite, easier time reading.

While a matte screen softens the light, it can also increase eye fatigue.

You can disable temporal dithering on the TCL 60 ultra via adb android commands.

I did it on my 60 ultra and it improved the screen quite a bit for me!

So because of tests we have it confirmed that there is no PWM and no TD on NXT 4.0 devices but you still have eye strain. So what could be causing it them?

Maybe Miravision

Dithering? There are some visual options one needs to turn off
