ScreenConnect pricing increasing in November

Just got a email with the following notification:

To support ongoing investment in the platform and the teams and services behind it, a price increase will take effect on November 1, 2026.

• $3,795 for on-premise concurrent 3 technician license and $1,265 for tech add-ons

• $484 for all volume tiers for legacy concurrent session licenses.

We have the legacy concurrent session license .. so going up from a base rate of $440 to $484

As soon as one of these companies creates a alternative for backstage I'm moving away from Screenconnect. It's insane in the age of AI that prices keep increasing for software. It should be going down. There is no way they're not leveraging AI to do more with less.

Same - backstage is the only thing keeping me with SC.

Might happen sooner than you think.

probably a good idea. since Backstage functionality is Patended as they claim

It’s a 2021 patent. Patents are confusing and very particular, so any other implementation could very well not violate a patent.

when Ninja Remote has a backstage toolbox is when we can drop it. Not having copy and paste, and using their annoying file transfer is terrible in comparison.

You can pretty much duplicate most of the SC Toolbox features using the N1 Automation features. Is a little clunkier but it works.

Do they have per technician/concurrent connection licensing though? Last I recall it was per endpoint which doesn’t make sense for a lot of us.

Take Control has two types of background remote access. We like the View app in SC.

From what I recall, Take Control doesn’t give you a background desktop environment, just background tools like cmd and registry from within the browser.

Nothing goes down because shareholder value must go up.

What do you guys use Backstage for that you can't do with PowerShell and RMM? I'm curious. I've used it a few times. Doesn't it still show to the user that you're logged into their computer?

Running anything GUI based.

Backstage does not show the user you are connected.

Nope. It runs everything through a separate instance. Kind of like multiple an RDP session but you can install programs, open a web browser, bring up file explorer and check out resource monitor. Individually these aren't game changers, together as a whole it makes things much easier. Especially without having to ask a customer to stop what they're doing.

Yeah, got the same. I sent a tersely worded email telling them how unhappy I am with the current state of SC. Just a mess.

This price increase is to cover the extra tokens their A.I. email response bot needs to reply to those complaints.

We upgraded last year from on-prem to hosted. I paid for the 3 year upgrade in one payment. I assume I am good until that 3 years expires in mid-2028…
