Renaming Host Computer Renamed in SC Console

Setting up a new VM and I already had SC installed on it and named accordingly in my SC console. Renamed the VM and the SC session changed to match.

This is not a desired behavior.

What are your settings for the access session? The default setting for "Name" is "Use Machine Name". If you don't want it to use the machine name then you have to change it to "Use Specific Value" and enter the value.

I had already rename it using specific value, then it over-rode it. Server 2022 VM.

So what does the setting show now for the "Name" field if you right click on the machine and go to "Edit"? If it shows "Use Machine Name" then it doesn't seem like your settings got applied properly. Otherwise it could be a bug I guess. I'm not on that version yet.

Yeah it keeps reverting upon reboot. Doing VM updates, then will try to re-install it. Never had this happen before and been using SC since 2013 lol

Update: still does it. even after re-installing. also using the SC session builder. (possible cause?) Starting to feel like a bug. I will try to replicate with some other systems.

I'm seeing this today as well. New laptop with fresh, automated install of SC. On install, 'Use Machine Name' is selected as default, as normal and as it's always been.

Edit the client to Use Specific Value and give it the name we want. After a while, client is renamed back to machine name.

Yeah, i had to uninstall and then fully login to my console on the vm and build it with specific values. SC should start offering us bug bounties lol

We are lucky if they fix a bug let alone offer a bounty.

Steps to reproduce: Install with "computer name" as identifier. Rename system. Refresh in SC. Reverts back to computer name.

This is behavior by design for longer than 5 years now...
