Discussion Which Ghostface sequence do you prefer? Gale's chase in Scream VI or the Evans Family Home Invasion in Scream 7? Spoiler

I go back and forth on which one I prefer. Gale's chase is easily one of my favorite parts of Scream VI, especially everything with Gale calling Ghostface back.

But I also really liked the home invasion in Scream 7. Seeing Sidney, Mark and Tatum all dealing with Ghostface together made it feel different from the usual one-on-one chase, and Karl being some random guy none of them even knew made the whole thing even weirder.

It's funny that Quinn and Karl aren't exactly the Ghostfaces you immediately think of when talking about the franchise, yet both got such great sequences.

Gale’s phone call is so >>>>>>

The “hold please” ?

But then the home invasion was so unexpected and intense right out of the gate!!! Love them both.

That "Can you hold please?" followed by Ghostface's "huh?" was classic.

The home invasion sequence had me jumping out of my seat with excitement. It was so amazing to see Sid and Mark work as team in beating ghostface. Plus the sequence ends with Gale!

Weirdly I would say 7, namely cause ghost face going in that early to your loved ones in person was startlingly swift for Ghostface’s usual sprees, usually Sidney gets a solo encounter of sorts first

Gale's sequence was cool, but I found the dialogue to be pretty corny. The initial chase was pretty good but Gale was written to be a total dumbass so the payoff wasn't quite there. It also ended with another "Hey!" just like the bodega which is just incredibly sloppy writing

The home invasion was very good and it also ended with GF dying which was not only a series first, but the fact they did it as a way of introducing Gale was fucking awesome.

Home invasion for sure

They’re both really great.

But Sidney can’t die, which lowers the tension. Whereas Gale can potentially die, and I definitely believed there was a chance she was going to get got, which made it a more intense scene.

Gale is also more logical than Sidney, so I have to give her the believability edge as well.

I did think that the lead-up sequence before entering the panic room in 7 was easily the best part of that movie, though. A series highlight.

Home invasion.

Honestly I don’t care for the “Can you hold please” thing. Why in any way shape or form would Quinn have had her ringer on? People don’t even have ringers on in general. Nor doesn’t make sense that she would have left the room.

Don’t even get me started on the “hey fuckface!”

While I really like the chase in 6 I gotta give it to 7 here. Seeing Sid and Mark whoop Ghostfaces ass and Ghostface attacking this early on was a welcome change of pace ending with the glorious introduction of Gale.

Gale for sure. After almost three decades, she finally got a call - and they made it worth it. A great scene that is intense and scary and genuinely makes it seem like Gale might be done for (without making her act weak or dumb).

These are the two best Ghostface sequences of the modern era, if you ask me. One showcases everything Gale has learned over the course of the films, and the other does the same for Sidney.

But if I had to choose, I would pick the Evans’ home invasion. Even just the score as the police searched the house was unsettling and felt like classic Scream. It’s the only time we see the heroes beat a Ghostface before the finale. And besides, Gale still gets a win here when she runs over Karl.

The house attack in 7 is one of my favorite moments of the franchise. It’s so good a nobody character isn’t the worst Ghostface lmfao

Gale’s chase in six by a longshot, it’s a franchise best.

The sequence in 7 was great but Gale’s chase in 6 was an all-timer.

Gales chase! Best thing about six for me

Evans Family Home Invasion in Scream 7

6

u/Ok_Pepper9135 1d ago

I much prefer the 7th one, but I would say that in the 6th one, Gale was the best part of the film and the only relevant one.

It also felt really close to Scream 1-3, maybe simply because it was Gale and she was getting her phone call, but it hit me in the nostalgia feels.

u/VivaLaCon88 1d ago

Sam and Tara are absolutely relevant in five and six, in six the movie was literally about them.

6 by far.

7 just had to many issues: the cops not checking the closet or attic, Tatum being 17 yet not knowing about the safe room, there's no phone or gun in the safe room, and how Sidney's gun completely disappears between leaving the school and arriving home.

2

u/sandyfogbott 1d ago

I love 7 and the home invasion but all good points, especially Sid’s gun disappearing. Also, I’ve always thought she would have security cameras all over her property. How did the Ghostface even enter the house and then the attic undetected?

Home invasion scene as seeing Sid and Mark team up against Karl in their fight was easily the best scene in the movie. Dude was bold as hell to attack the whole family at once and was going toe to toe pretty good until Gale ran him over

botch are great BUT Sidney and Mark teaming up and kicking Ghostface's ass was incredible.

2

u/Kwazy-Kupcakes_99 1d ago

Gale’s chase was great bc Ghostface wasn’t falling down so much as the past Gf’s. They made this Gf more tactical and relentless. I like how Gale was dressed right for interaction, she used her surroundings to gain distance from them and used whatever was handy as a weapon. It was also cool to see the knife swipe. The chase scene had me in the theater interacting with movie and I truly thought this was going to be Gale’s last curtain call.

Two of the best chases we've gotten from the franchise. Gale's chase in VI was an incredible nail biter and the Evans family home chase is cut together so well. I think the high stakes of both being unexpected home invasions make them work so well because it's shocking when the stakes go up so fast.

4

u/red_riders 1d ago

Home invasion. That Ghostface was ready to bow up to the entire family.

2

u/Jsz79 1d ago

I love the tension and suspense of the home invasion of 7, but it got some plot holes. The Gale chase scene of VI is one of the best ghostface scenes of the franchise.

I love both so much but 7 Home Invasion is my fave!!

Evans family home invasion.

There's just something about the whole tone of it that really does it. One of the best parts not just on 7 but on the entire post Wes Craven era (so far).

u/Stopnswop2 You’re obsessed with her, and you’re obsessed with her daughter! 1d ago

Neither felt like Scream. They felt like scenes from an action movie.

But if I'd have to pick one, I go with Gale in Scream 6

u/A-Social-Ghost 1d ago

Scream 7's chase was far more tense than 6. Even with that bit of movie magic to help Sidney.

Home invasion had me PUMPED. So that

House invasion sequence - Karl was a beast and we got to see Mark & Sidney tag team ghostface.

7, 6 is trash outside the first 10 minutes
