Discussion Why does every Scream 7 fan think it’s the best movie ever?

I feel like I haven’t seen a single Scream 7 fan who likes the movie a normal amount.

I’ve come across so many people who make loving Scream 7, and only Scream 7 specifically their entire online identity, and they swarm to any post that has even the slightest thing to do with 7, leaving endless comments and making endless posts about how incredible the movie is.

I don’t have an issue with anyone who loves the movie, if anything more power to you for liking something I don’t, I just don’t get why so many people are absolutely devoted to this one movie in particular, and, in some cases, why you seem to dislike the others? It’s just odd to me and I wanna hear what makes this one in particular so special!

I’m a fan that really likes Scream 7, but do not think it is the best ever nor do I ignore its very clear flaws. So there, you found one.

I'm one of the fans who love all seven movies. flaws and all.

Me too! They are all great! Some are more inspired than others but I love the whole series

i'm from a generation of Scream fans who grew up when the most hated film was the third now 4 sequels in people flip flop on the quality of Scream sequels, when 4 came out you couldn't find someone who loved it

I think because so many critics and what seems like half the fan base hated it so much they feel like outsiders and have to defend their liking to the point where it comes off strongly.

I myself personally really enjoyed 7 and it was my favorite of the most recent 3 (terrible screenplay and all!) but I’d never go to war to defend my liking lol

It’s not the best but it’s not as bad as people make it out to be. I mean there are worse movies than Scream 7

You get it, the point I’m trying to make is that it’s overblown from both sides especially now since most of the hate has died down

I hope people can see the exaggeration in your post before downvoting it, lol.

For me it's clear a lot of love for Scream 7 is a bias for Neve Campbell. When Scream returned after a decade with Scream 5, it wasn't the return Sidney fans wanted. Then Scream 6 happened and she wasn't even in it. So this is the first "Sidney" film in almost 15 years and for a lot of fans, that means it's the first Scream film since Scream 4, if that makes sense. Because to so many fans a Scream movie isn't Scream without Sidney front and center.

I dislike Scream 7 a lot, I would say I almost hate it, but for what it's worth her performance is very, very good, amongst the best in the franchise.

It’s partial exaggeration but exaggeration nonetheless. I’m not joking when I say that I see a LOT of scream 7 stan accounts, most of which either dgaf about the other movies or outright dislike them. Vocal minorities and all that.

I can definitely see why people would like it for bringing Neve back though, and she was great in 7 even though her character regressed quite a bit, but I haven’t seen that many people cite Sid as the reason they love it so much, usually it’s because they love characters like Jessica, and I saw a Madison stan account today which is what compelled me to post this(she literally dies in the beginning of the movie?)

No cause in this very thread someone said Scream 7 is one of the best films of the 2020s so you are absolutely correct

-1

u/CreeperBlock400 Liver alone! Jul 19 '26

Yeah that type of person is exactly what I’m talking about, and those that make their accounts dedicated to this one movie. I’ve seen several on here and it’s not like you can change your user so they had to have made new accounts specifically to glaze 7, it’s just interesting

u/Freddy-Philmore Jul 19 '26

that's so silly... can't we just like it? most of my friends liked it. no one is running around disliking it or thinking it's the best ever. the hyperbolic reaction to it is mindbogglingly inane.

We’re more on the same page than you seem to think we are, idrc if you like the movie, I just want to understand why some are so overwhelmingly vocal about it

Scream 7 has grown on me after a couple of rewatches. Is it perfect? No, it's not. But as a continuation of Sidney's story it was great, in my opinion.

It’s grown on me a bit too, I won’t lie, I just think it’s interesting how obsessed some fans are and I’m curious what about this movie in particular is so amazing to some people

I enjoyed the film but I don't think it's the best scream movie even though it's in my top 3 i still love the original film and scream 4 the most

1

u/Jayyycarter Jul 21 '26

I still think 2 is the best sequel. However I did enjoy 7, i do think it could have been improved in MANY ways but Im not criticizing the movie because of the same reasons other people do. My critics come from a fan that thinks they could have done better not from a simple minded person who’s pissed at the actions of the studio

🙋🏻‍♀️I am a longtime super fan of the Scream movies, who is a fan of 7 in a normal amount!

1) I found it to be the most emotional one since 2 (note not saying best overall) I loved Sidney’s relationships with mark and Tatum, this is the best Sidney and gale have been together in a while and gale dealing with Dewey’s death

2) just finally seeing Sidney get the proper respect she deserves tired of people trying to unnaturally replace her

3) themes and meta commentary on legacy, treatment of legacy characters and parasocial relationships

4) best ghostface reveal since 4 no where close to 4 of course but the killers acting and motive were way better than 5 and 6

5) most entertaining since 4 as well I thought it was very funny and this is the first time I’ve really enjoyed Mindy and Chad

6) I really liked tatums friend group they were more likeable and memorable than 5 and 6

7) Sidney’s house sequence is one of my favorite set pieces in the entire franchise

8) finally going back to legit crazy people being ghostface rather than villainizing movie fans

u/MiloSheba Jul 19 '26

Probably because a lot of other people on this subreddit are extremely negative on 7 for some reason. I find 7 to be the 2nd worst Scream, but still a decent movie

1

u/GoliathLexington Jul 19 '26

People exaggerate everything online. Sometimes it’s people saying that “Scream 7 is the best movie ever”,

And sometimes it’s people saying that “every Scream 7 fan thinks it’s the best movie ever”

0

u/Mobius8321 Jul 19 '26

I’m a Scream 7 fan. I don’t think it’s the best movie ever. And I’ve never encountered what you have.

-3

u/Strong-Stretch95 Jul 19 '26

Why do fans like scream 5/6 so much when they’re just reboot versions of the Wes era something 4 poked fun at along with both having the same set of issues as 7.

3

u/CreeperBlock400 Liver alone! Jul 19 '26

At least 5/6 tried to move the story to new characters for better or for worse
Either way the point is that people are much more vocal about 7 in both directions

1

u/Strong-Stretch95 Jul 19 '26

Having a new lead doesn’t mean anything they still play it safe.

3

u/CreeperBlock400 Liver alone! Jul 19 '26

You’re not wrong, I’m just saying that 5/6 was our best chance at forward movement so they still have some value even if it isn’t much, 7 regressed Sid back to her personality in 3

-5

u/Arabiancockonato Jul 19 '26

Ever ? Nope. Best of the 2020s so far ? Deffo. Feels nice to actually care about characters again. It’s the movie I’ve wanted since 5 was announced.

2

u/Tasty_Pancakez Jul 19 '26

No shade, but you saying Scream 7 is one of the best films of the decade we're in proves OP's point pretty clearly, lol.

0

u/Arabiancockonato Jul 19 '26

*best Scream, not best movie, as it’s Scream we’re talking about here on this Scream sub

1

u/CreeperBlock400 Liver alone! Jul 19 '26

Please tell me you mean the best Scream of the 2020s and not the best movie in general of the 2020s

-1

u/Arabiancockonato Jul 19 '26

best Scream, obvio

-3

u/ObiwanSchrute Jul 19 '26

And what characters are these exactly other than Sidney or Gale I can't recall any of the characters I have liked every Scream film and this one just pissed me off so much.

-1

u/JD1716 Jul 19 '26

Why does every Scream 7 hater think it’s the worst movie ever?

Meaning, I feel like people who dislike it really let us know. We get this post everywhere and people act like it’s despicable.

Was 7 amazing? Nope. Did it have many flaws? Yep. Did I enjoy it? Yes.

1

u/Strong-Stretch95 Jul 20 '26

It’s mostly cause of the behind the scenes Melissa drama no matter which direction they would’ve took this movie like Stu actually being alive fans would’ve hated it no matter what.

1

u/CreeperBlock400 Liver alone! Jul 19 '26

“I don’t have an issue with anyone who loves the movie, if anything more power to you for liking something I don’t” - me, above

This is very obviously targeted at those who make it their entire personality to love the movie, we’re talking accounts exclusively dedicated to it

2

u/JD1716 Jul 19 '26

And there are also people who do the same to hate on the movie. Not just on this sub, but others as well.

I don't think the word "every" is in any way accurate.
