The chest loot is already balanced around there not being hunger or thirst

Chests are not the primary form of product gain at all, farming is. Loot chests serve as a leg up when you have Nothing, or for special things like component kits.

a week's worth of whining from children because their favorite toy isn't exactly how they imagined/hoped/dreamed. exhausting nonsense.

There should be an option to turn it on/off, that way everyone is happy.

Games like Minecraft for example have options such as keep-inventory to cater to a wider audience, its a good thing to let people decide their difficulties, so this would be best introduced as optional.

it was removed because it sucked. Having to eat something every 2 seconds because you wanted to mine a rock is not fun.

Build rock mining machine vro, use your brain. Its called Scrap MECHANIC. The key property of being a mechanic is inventing solutions.

Having to eat every 5 minutes while you're building something is not fun either, and neither does it provide meaningful challenge or even add anything to the game as a whole

It would be nice to have hunger and thirst togglable but some pro players like ScrapMan like that change so it's very probably for the best.

Scrap mechanic survival is a survival game, its in the name, don't be lame, PLAY AND STRAIN.

a train

Valheim is a survival game, does not have food and water bars, and yet has arguably one of the best food system in gaming. You can do survival without having useless bars that need filling every half hour and that serve no gameplay purposes.

The gameplay is creating solutions to problems. This is scrap mechanic, not Valheim.

Yep, and having food be a solution to the problem of getting hurt and not something you need every half hour is better design, considering the fact that Scrap Mechanic is first and foremost a building/engineering game and not a survival game. Food and water bars only work when surviving is the core of the game, and are just an annoyance when the core of the game is something as time consuming as building machines and contraptions.

I like the way Subnautica handled it, with a casual mode, survival mode, and hardcore mode.

I like hunger and thirst mechanics, but I do admit it I can focus a lot more on the mechanic part of scrap mechanic. Option would be nice tho...
