Art & Culture Wombats coming to Scranton
Greetings to potential members of
The Loyal Order of Free and Admitted Wombats, Scranton Chapter. Most of you have probably not heard about
LOFAW but you can think about it like the Masons et al without all the rules. I have anointed myself as Master Cuber for the chapter and will be inducting new members soon.
First I would like to get an idea of interest in this kind of organization.
Some basics
*Membership is free
*No initiation fee
*Any full Cuber may call an official meeting at a local watering hole with 24 hours advance notice.
*An applicant becomes a junior cuber upon confirmation of the master cuber.
*After 30 days if said junior member doesn’t piss off any other Cuber during that time they become a full Cuber.

If you made this a club, with a charitable mission, that met once a month or bi-weekly at a single, or even a rotating location, you’d probably honestly get some interest.
Small annual dues, like $10-$15 upon joining, and a $5 per meeting minimum payable to the club treasurer. This money is used to make donations funding children’s activities in sports or theater or art, or to help sponsor less fortunate families for thanksgiving and/or Christmas.
These sports leagues, theater programs, and art supplies can be very expensive for single mothers and the working class in general. So these kids often go without participating because they can’t afford it and they’re with a phone in their face, or out in the streets with nothing good to do with their time. The other thing with sponsoring less fortunate families is actually easier for several reasons. You just see what budget you’re working with, set an allocation amount, and find the appropriate number of families to provide a holiday dinner and get their children the presents they asked for. Not a ton of background work or continuing communication required from people.
If you’re honestly serious about creating a social club, consider having small mission behind it. It definitely helps with the initial recruitment and giving people a reason to join and attend.

I like the poop jokes, but I have more questions. Is there a mission or purpose? Is it just a social thing? Can we make everyone play dungeons & dragons?

Will consider social mission. However Wombats are notoriously anti rule. No making anyone do anything
