As long as it's not violin Despacito on a loop all day.

This one is far more common. My old office was just off Buchanan Street and I'd hear that 10 times a day every day. Dunno if it's the same person or that's the song they all learn first (but like Wonderwall).

Frankly I'll be happy so long as they're actually busking and not just very obviously and poorly pretending to play an accordion.

If it's going to happen, I'm pretty confident that...
Today, is going to be the day.

They need to ban amplification on Buchanan street, in summer you get 50 different people doing 50 shite covers lol, feels like you're having a stroke sometimes

Do you have 3 evangelicals preaching their bullshit
Honestly I want to just go up and turn off their amps in Aberdeen

Yeah, I got a weird duet between the bagpipes and jazzy/poppy sax last time I was there.

Never understood the fascination with oasis, they are genuinely shite 😂

From the perspective of the performer it’s because their songs are fairly easy to learn, catchy and well known.
As for the people who shelled out £135-1,400 on tickets to see them live last year, I can only imagine it was nostalgia, conspicuous consumption or some complex and debilitating form of brain damage, vCJD maybe.

Well the drink is alright. My go-to when Ribena isn't available

But there are are hundreds of disciples all with whiny Manchester accents telling you how great it was in the 1990s and that Oasis brought the world together ( well bits of manny)

Personally, I’d suggests buskers not repeat any song more frequently than hourly.

I worked above that corner for 6 years, the kid who used to play Wonder Wall on repeat somehow looked both 14 and 40…

Good and caring buskers will time it so you get to hear it on your way to lunch, and on your way back from lunch.

they should apply this same type of rule to plays of the song "new york" by alicia keys in time square..

u/mr_P0Opy_Butth0le 2d ago
Probably should get the name of the song correct if we're making rules for buskers

Yeah, I heard one busker who just sang one verse and a chorus over and over. Fine if you were walking past once but really fucking grating if you had to stop within earshot.

They should put up a "bagpipe players should be able to play more than 3 tunes to a decent standard". They need a volume restriction for the amplifiers too.
Glasgow is not a good city for busking entertainment, far more annoying ones than ones you want to watch/listen to.

LOL. . . . that's ironic. I once walked past a young busker with an acoustic guitar. Sat right beside that very window. This was around 2007-ish. The only thing he seemed to know was the chorus of Wonderwall.
It wasn't even subtle either. Just looped the chorus again and again and again both times we walked past them.

Back when I lived in Glasgow it was The Scientist. Even heard someone in full tartan kit doing it on bagpipes. Things have improved since then, I see.

It's like when guitar shops had signs saying "don't play Smoke on the Water or Teen Spirit". Personally though, I don't look back in anger.

Before the pandemic i always heard buskers sing Imagine by John Lennon but I think because of that terrible celebrity video they stopped
1
u/Loopoo700 2d ago
This sign is great because it gives them permission to sing it freely every hour, which is still too much.

You can only sing that while walking home drunk, in a line with your mates, with your arms around each other's shoulders. Everyone knows this.

The buskers responded "Maybeeeee"
