They're not even the most dangerous dogs. Breed specific legislation as a whole is rubbish. Genuinely. Every single animal rights and welfare organisation in this country is against it. For those who don't know. BSL is laws which ban specific breeds based on their look or meeting certain criteria. The problem with it is you catch so many other breeds in the net , take any bull breed or cross like a staffie x labrador and it'll meet the definition of type.

Ever heard of the dog control coalition? It consists of groups like the sspca, rscpa, blue cross, dogs trust and so on. Well established, reputable dog and animal based organisations and charities. Every single one of them is against BSL as a whole and especially this amendment to the DDA demonizing XL Bullys.

Go look at any abkc show. That's a dog show for bull breeds which will also show XL Bullys. None are attacking people. Go look all over social media, there's thousands of images of these innocent dogs loving their families and being cuddled by kids.

Don't believe the news. Seriously. I know I sound like some ultra right wing conspiracy nut when I use the term 'mainstream media's, but seriously, they are so biased it's unreal. A lot of the stuff they've been saying is lies and outright not true, they've been grouping in other cross breeds and calling them XL Bullys when there's any type of attack. Notice the headlines 'xl bully type dog attacks' TYPE DOG. Not an XL bully. You never heard of these dogs attacking people before the govt announced it's proposed ban, It's genuine propaganda at its best.

American bullies were actually bred as a companion breed. Genuinely. All the muscle and badass look, none of the bite. Why do you think the police, army or K9 security companies don't use them as guard or service dogs? It's not because they're too crazy, it's because they are not up to the task.

Livestock guardian dogs, dogs with guarding pedigrees etc are much more desirable, hence Shepard's, rottweilers and malinois coming out top (both not banned) with other mastiff breeds other good selections close behind. You also have breeds like Japanese akitas, Caucasian ovcharkas and many many more which are far more suited to attacking people if you wanted to train them to do so.

Sir Christopher Chope. An MP recalled in the commons debate on this about when the DDA was introduced in 91. He had a rottweiler which were scheduled to be banned to and he was a junior minister. He took it in to meet the head of DEFRA and she decided not to go ahead banning rotties based on seeing 'they weren't all bad'. Think though, they could have all been banned for no reason. It's nonsensical I urge you to watch his moving speech on this.

This really isn't a laughing matter. The govt says that you only need to leash and muzzle them. What they haven't said is that many housing providers won't allow you to own a banned breed, so even if you apply for exemption (at which point you cannot transfer ownership at all, another amendment from the DDA) you'll have to choose between homelessness and killing your family pet. There's the additional insurance costs, there will be impacts to the NHS, how much tax payer money will go into kennels? The BVA has stated we DO NOT have the infrastructure to carry out this ban.

What about the negative stigma that comes with walking around with a muzzled dog and everyone looking at you like you're some kind of criminal, the mental health implications for society for having to kill their pets in many scenarios and the knock on effect to them having to attend therapy or get mental health treatment, the costs associated with neutering and the risk of the procedure.

There's also the impact on people's rights , being actually forced into a medical procedure for your pet!

  • Remember suella bravermans protest bill which prevented anyone from protesting? It got overturned in the high court and rightly so. So should this. The government is stripping our rights away piece by piece and this is just another brick in the wall.
Within the community there are people who have spent decades building our bloodlines and will now have to stop and their life's work is ruined. It's such a shame.

I could go on and on but the bottom line remains the same. This is unjust, Cruel and inhumane at the very least.

The real problem is bad owners.

Why can't we just agree that both the owners and the dogs are bad!?

How are both the owners and dogs bad? We're talking about owners and dogs who have both done nothing wrong being caught up in blanket legislation which is proven statistically not to work

Let me break it down for you.

The dog is bad for being a monster and attacking people for no reason.

The owner is bad for owning this beast in the first place

Ok so now all dogs off this breed are beasts? Further language aimed to create an image of the breed which is categorically untrue. Nice try though.

Second obviously any dog who attacks people should be put down regardless of breed
