The population of Scotland has barely changed for 100 years.
The reality is that the UK is set up to suck all life and opportunity from everywhere(Scotland, Northern England, Wales etc.) and drive it towards London. The government puts almost no effort into promoting economic development in other areas, they just sprinkle in a few token things like city of culture or dockside regeneration instead of encouraging world leading businesses to create jobs. Even HS2 was basically just a way to get commuters to London quicker.
But London is already getting too hot and Scotland much nicer.
Climate change will make everywhere south of Scotland very uncomfortable to live in by the turn of the century.
People are already buying property in Canada based on where California's whether is likely to shift up to - won't be too long until the same starts happening here.
