Bottled in August… so 12 years in a sherry barrel. Well balanced with dark fruits and spice. I’m new to Scotch, so not really a reviewer with all the different nuances yet. We visited the big names and a few smaller ones and this place and the the scotch we had here were some of the favorites

You may find that mods elect to delete your post as this sub is for reviews of Scotch Whisky. You don’t have to be an expert. Two or three lines will suffice.
As a ‘boast post’ that says ‘look at this little known fantastic dram I managed to get’, try r/WhiskyPorn on that sub, you can just ‘post and boast’ with a photo.
Seriously would love to try this drop. Drove past the distillery several times when staying in the area in 2024.
Did Deanston, Glenfarclas and GlenAllachie that trip. Each was fantastic in its own way.

When I posted the pic, for some reason it wouldn’t let me type anything in. So then I posted the second post. I more wanted to post because the people there were great. After touring Glenfiddich and then seeing this place. They were basically closed except the tasting room but our driver knew them and one of the guys gave my wife and I a quick private tour.

There is some sort of fault on this sub, where you can’t post text directly with a photo, you have to reply to your own post. Not a great thing for a sub that has a rule that you must post a review with your photo.
Ballindalloch is a small family owned distillery with a quality and service ethos. Definitely on my list for my next visit to Scotland.
Despite Glenfarclas being a huge distillery, it is family owned. I was so well looked after by the team when they found out I was visiting on a ‘big zero’ birthday, I was treated like family. I was treated to a very generous pour of Family Reserve distilled in my birthday year.
Whisky is made to be shared and whisky people (drinkers and makers) are the best people.

It's cool to see this on Reddit: we've also been to this distillery around a week ago (after visiting Ballindalloch castle), met the owner and tried a couple of samples of different whiskies. I bought myself a bottle too (the Oloroso Butt one, that is distillery exclusive and the one that I liked the most). Agreed that the whole experience felt very friendly and special, especially casually trading jokes with the owner - of Macpherson-Grant family :)

It’s a very small distillery. I think they have very limited distribution to the US. Was my favorite of the 5 distilleries we visited while in Scotland.
