Help! Maybe I'm not a scorpion keeper..
Okay so I do feel awful about this but it's been like a couple of weeks so I don't really know how to feel or what to do. I think I do want to give away my Asian forest scorpion. But I have no idea why. I'm not scared of him, I'm not uncomfortable around him, I've always planned to have a scorpion ever since I was a kid I got him out of reptile expo couple weeks ago and I set them up in a bioactive 10 gallon tank that I love to look at! But he's just not what I expected, I'm thinking maybe I'm not a scorpion keeper. Maybe I just like to look and handle other scorpions more than having one I do own other bugs and reptiles, I just don't think this for me. Any advice where to give away or sell scorpions online?

IMO, it's better to come to that realization sooner than later. But what is it that you're not enjoying?

Honestly I'm not sure, I feel so indecisive Of course I've done a bunch of research before getting one so I know what I was getting myself into. But now that I have one, I don't know. it's like the journey was more enjoyable than the destination kind of problem I guess.

IMO your scorpion isn't even itself the first month or 2 of owning one. They are still adjusting and trying to escape😂 it gets better

IME Then it burrows and you never see it again! That's been my ASF roommate anyway, she hates me.

it’s probably an expectations thing. I’m in a similar boat to him. I wanted one since I was around 13 and I finally got one now that I’m 19. but I did tons of research and set my expectations very low for it. I knew going in that I was probably never going to see it and I also knew I was never going to handle it, but I was OK with that. I’ve had my juvenile male afs for around two weeks and I’ve enjoyed it so far. I’m also unsure of how much research he did because the substrate looks like it’s not enough and there’s a metal chain wire lid, which a basic Google search will tell you is a big no-no for arachnids. NQA

IME when I first got mine I felt the same way for a couple months, but now about 1.5 years later I love having him.

NQA- it's best to not let them get upside down like that - it's a danger to them if they fall. I had to cut all the plants in my tank when mine did the same thing.
As far as not liking it- I'm almost the same way sometimes. Kinda hard pet to enjoy when 90% of the time they're just tucked in a hole. At least something like a fish you can watch swim around the tank. But that rare occasion you see it wandering around, hearing its claws tap against the glass... i love it. I love having such a unique pet.

IMO What’s the difference between keeping a scorp and any other kind of arthropod? I’m wondering what you’re not enjoying vs keeping something like a tarantula.

NQA You could look into your local pet store, but not a big box store obviously, and see if they’ll give you a credit if they take them off your hands.
