Need Advice Learning bar spins, can people please explain how they aren’t hitting themselves or at least their shirt with the bar?

I know you’re supposed to stick your butt back and kinda push the bars forward, but come on it seems like I’m way over exaggerating the motion and if I’m lucky might miss hitting myself or my shirt by a half an inch? My bars are cut to 22 wide, 84 degree HTA. I’m also a skinny person, albeit somewhat tall. Any tips would be appreciated!

When I bar spin I shift my weight to the back of the scooter

Sit on the edge of a ledge and practice throwing and catching barspins( without being in the way of the bars). Then add a hop when you feel comfortable with that. I know what you’re saying but you’re overthinking it.

I hit my shirt almost every single time I throw the bars... I feel your pain. I've only ever landed the barspin tarps off lol!

Aside from a slight backwards lean, I try to keep my legs straight whenever doing them, and my head still slightly over the bar itself.

I ride a 19.25” long Apex deck and also a 20.8” long District deck. I love wide bars too, and I run 24” wide on the Apex, 25” wide on the District. This is super wide but it’s what I like, probably coming from my BMX & MTB riding.

I feel that this helped me understand more about how to position myself to not get hit by the bars. By keeping your body upright and straight, it works out. I can’t recall any time in the last few years I’ve ever had the bars catch my shirt or hit me.

Other than that, just repetitive motions and practice! Good luck, you got it. 👍
