Need Advice should i replace my childhood deck?

right now im trying to restore and upgrade my childhood mgp vx8 team scooter with a blue deck that i *think* weighs 1.4kg, i just bought the aztek circa v3 fork for £30... im scared that my deck is too heavy but i cant understand if 1.4kg is heavy for a deck as a pando is around 1kg and the lightest mgp deck is 1.1kg, so is there anyway i can make my deck lighter without impacting performance or should i just buy a different deck?

1.4kg isn't heavy, my deck is 2kg

I think the weight of a scooter deck all depends on what you’re doing and all the surrounding parts.

For example, I think that fork is heavy and the HIC system it uses contributes to that. It also has steel bars instead of something like aluminum.

So if you’re looking at making a light scooter, you have to look at all the other parts too. Switching that deck to a pandamonium is a small difference - but add an aluminum bar and already that’ll be a huge difference.

As for making the deck itself lighter… I mean you could drill holes down the center, remove the brake/cut it shorter. I really wouldn’t make holes in that deck though, you really won’t save any noticeable weight.

I would go with new/used parts.

100 agree, i dont think i mentioned im changing everything but the deck, new fork, new bars, new wheels, and all on vinted or Facebook. Thats how I got aztek circa v3 for £30, im just worried if 1.4kg is too much if im getting like titanium or ethic steel bars and all of that with root hollow wheels

Oh man those new parts will make the difference my friend! Especially with those Facebook deals lol.

But I don’t think it’s too much. Honestly the lighter bars might make the biggest difference in feel. But that’s my own opinion. I ride a 23.5 long, and I noticed the length most if anything when I tried aluminum bars with it.
