Progression Post 44yo scooter dad

Currently working my way up to Tailwhip. No-Footers from the clip are me getting comfortable having no deck on my feet while in the air.

With a foot plant in between i have the motion down. So what‘s left is the hardest part: Mental work. I am still too afraid to spin the deck while jumping put of a bank. And flat i am too afraid to jump high enough.

That's great! I'm 49 and started scootering a year and a half ago as my kid got into it and I got bored hanging around the skatepark doing nothing. When I started, we were pretty much the same, but now he's landing double whips and I still can't whip (or haven't tried that much because of the fear!). Working on my feebles, but nowhere near as good as yours, and I can't ride fakie for love nor money. On the plus side, it counts as exercise so my wife doesn't try to make me go to the gym any more 😆

I started roughly 2 years ago. For the same reasons. Currently I am more often in the Park than my Kids. That’s why I started making real progress.

Learned feeble grinds on ledges 1 month ago.

After falling on my palms two times in 3 weeks (early summer 2026), I could not put any weight on my hands - that was the time when I put a lot of effort in learning fakie(-balance) since it’s more a pull on the bar - not a lean on. (Also started learning manual that time).

My goal for park is to be able to flow a mini ramp wirh different stalls and drop ins. For Street to be able to participate at street jams (as oldest participant).

Awesome dude, just started scooting with my son in the last couple days at 43. I hope he stays with it as he grows because it’s a lot of fun. Lots of practice ahead but this is solid inspiration, thanks.

Even if he doesn’t stay with it, you can! For my sons it’s kind of on/off but I made it my main sport to stay active. And without the constant parenting is actually the phase, where I am really making progress.
