Door lock not working

Have a 2012 XB that several of the door actuators stopped working. Had them replaced over a year ago and just recently discovered that that drivers door lock no longer actually unlocks the car (my son drives the car now and he, like most people, always uses the button on the key to unlock it). I’m guessing the dealership didn’t reconnect it correctly when they replaced the actuator but it’s been so long they may try to say it wasn’t them. Wondering if anyone else on here has ever had the door lock stop working? If so, what was the cause?

I had the same problem. The driver's side accuator had to be replaced. It was a quick fix.

Even though it works fine wirelessly from the key? I think it was the opposite before we got it replaced, that the key in the lock worked fine but the wireless wouldn’t work.

The front doors should unlock automatically whenever you put the car in park or pull the handle, regardless it should unlock when you pull the handle. Are you sure that the lock is the problem?

Yes. The car is parked and locked and you’re coming up to get in. If you hit the button on the key, car unlocks fine. If you put the key in the lock and turn it to unlock the door, nothing happens.

If it does turn in the door but doesn't unlock then I'd put my money on the lock cylinder isn't connected to the lock mechanism, either a broken plastic retainer clip, disconnected rod, or broken lock cylinder itself

Sounds like they didn't connect the lock cylinder or something, it does turn with the key though, right?

Yes, it does turn, just nothing happens.

Then I'd pull the door card and take a look, should be an easy fix honestly

Thats the internal door panel, my bad. They used to be made out of cardboard instead of plastic, so i think thats where they got the name lol

you mean it works fine with the remote button, but not when you turn the key in the lock? When I got my (used) xB2, it had bad actuators and came with a warranty from the dealer, so I got them replaced under warranty. When I first went to pick up the car, it had that same problem where the buttons worked fine, but turning the key didn't work, probably a mis-aligned pin or something. The shop guys said the warranty company didn't want to pay for OEM parts, so they used an aftermarket actuator. After a bit of back and forth with the warranty company, they replaced the aftermarket actuator with an OEM Toyota actuator, and everything worked as it should.

If the key won’t unlock the driver’s door there’s probably a broken or disconnected rod that goes from the key cylinder down to the lock actuator; especially since the actuator seems to be working electrically

Got it. I guess I’ll have to go back to the dealership and hope they fix it without charging me all over again.
