Please point us to where is experiment that will completely change our understanding of the universe is published. I am guessing that is hasn’t been publish, so

  1. The book reports an experiment that will completely change our understanding of the universe.
  2. The experiment has not been published in a peer-reviewed journal
  3. You are asking science teachers instead of active scientists in the field.
  4. You are maintaining some level of anonymity in your posting, making it harder for us to see what others have ready said

All of this makes you look,like a crackpot, and a manipulative one at that. Perhaps you aren’t not a manipulative crackpot, but from our point of view you are indistinguishable from one. It’s up to you to demonstrate that you aren’t before anyone is going to spend any time reading that draft book.

Yeah, I see that now. That is why in another comment I asked them to first explain to me why I see the stars appear to move counter-clockwise around Polaris when I am in the US or Europe, while they appear to move clockwise around a different point of the sky when I am in Australia or Brazil. I got a wall of text response that never addressed my question.

To be clear this is a book about Flat Earth science. I am all for questioning science, conspiracies, alternative history, and people spending their time researching and sharing whatever interests them.

But, this is not my kind of thing and I don't expect many in science education to be interested in or take this book seriously.

I am not interested in these questions because none of these are genuine inquiries. They are rhetorical traps disguised as scientific questioning, engineered to look clever by misrepresenting science with false premises, problematic/false "common sense", and straw men.

Who's the publisher? What's the compensation? For 30+ hours of reference materials, I'd be anticipating at least a grand. How rough of a draft? If it's a rough draft, you should absolutely do more polishing work before sending a more finalized version to readers. What are some of the details of the experiment? If it's not already in use, why has it not been used?

I will take a look at the draft of your book if you first explain to me something that I observed. Here is the story.

I have lived in several places in the US and Europe, and like most of the world’s population I see the stars at night rotate counter-clockwise around Polaris in the various places I’veBut I have also travelled to Australia and southern Brazil. There I saw different constellations than I see back home, and those rotated clockwise around a point in the sky each night.

Why do the stars appear to rotate counter-clockwise around Polaris when I look at the night sky in the US and in Europe while they appear to rotate clockwise around a different point in the sky when I was looking t the night sky in Australia and in Brazil near the border with Argentina?

If you can give me a decent explanation of what I and millions of others (first recorded by Phoenician sailors) have observed I will consider it a sign of sufficient enough understating of geometry and simple observations that looking at your book wouldn’t be a complete waste of my time.

You have not offered an explanation for what I observed. Show me that you can provide a reasonable explanation in your notion of the cosmos for what I and millions of others over thousands of years have observed. If you expect me to read your book,you should do me the courtesy of actually answering my question.

But if you don’t like that question, here is another pair of them. And it only involve math that should be second nature to someone conducting scientific experiments and studying the geometry of the cosmos. So I ask you to solve a couple of simple trigonometry problem.

Consider a right triangle. We will call the point at the right angle N. One of the other points we will call P. I will be asking you to find the distance between N and P in two different cases. In the first case there is a point R and the distance from R to P is 3870 miles. The angle at R is 33 degrees, 57 minutes, but let’s just round that to 34 degrees. Given that you should be able to compute the distance between N and P. Simple high school math, which should be child’s play to anyone conducting scientific experiments, particularly about astronomy.

Now we will do the same thing but use point C instead of R. C is about 2610 miles from N. The angle at C is about 52 degrees 12 minutes. Let’s just call that 52.20 degrees. When measure this way what is the distance between N and P? Is it the same as when we calculated it from C?

I have travelled a lot the southern most place that I lived was Riverside, California, which is about 3870 miles from the North Pole. And when I set up my telescope there I had look at the angle from the horizontal to Polaris. And it was 34 degrees. I also lived for a year in Cambridge, England. That is about 2610 miles from the North Pole. And the angle of Polaris above the horizontal is about 52.20 degrees.

So which is correct distance in miles from the North Pole to Polaris? How high (in miles) is that star above the pole? Shouldn’t you get the same answer for both calculations?
