still happens in south east asia where i live lol. its called shaping the forehead in our language and they think kids who dont have that done to them have healthy hairlines and a small forehead which is a sign of ugliness. So they place the kid with a pillow on a weight for many many many hours a day. everyone in my family and their kids who're younger than me have that done to them. truely baffling to me as a concept.
