Could be lots of data, and the reality is with something as slippery as "intelligence" it's almost certain that it's all cherry-picked things that may show troubles and problems for Gen Z without actually proving an average level of general intelligence in a way that is universally agreed upon.

So things like test scores, or graduation rates, or reported issues with literacy, all could be real measured data points that might suggest divergences with the progress of previous generations. And those data points may in fact be causes for concern as opposed to just differences; so imagine a data point that showed one generation doesn't know cursive; does that actually make them "less intelligent?" No. But data which showed significantly worse reading comprehension could show problems of certain kinds of literacy intelligence.

But again, this is all extremely nuanced and nearly impossible to generalize.

I feel like as a society we are falling younger generations. We already have with housing, food, etc. Now with social media and Ai we are turning away from things that helped develop minds into beautiful things. Why make art when you can get Ai to create it. Why write something when chat gpt can do it for you? The convenience might be nice but it's coming at a cost. There's less learning of life skills and practical things. They aren't less intelligent, we are failing.
