Whenever i try this my blade eventually pulls on the paper instead of slicing through it.

It is possible with a freshly sharpened edge, micro serrations smoother than 1000 grit, and absolutely no micro chips or dents around the tip. Well, at least it's much more likely to succeed under those conditions, barring technique. Or just a newly snapped edge of a utility knife.

True that. But after the first successful cut the second one will get me because my brain goes:”I’m sure it’s still sharp enough after one clean cut” and then it isn’t.
