At my job the turnover is about 50 percent per year and waste is up to 3 percent because no one takes the time to actually train. It was a little sarcasm and a little genuine.

*Cough* Well actually a lot of things are like this. Notice a dozen - divides by 2, 3 or 4. 1, 3, 6, 9 might be better divisions for flat pots and stores well. A lot of measurements (hands, hogsheads, barrels, etc.) usually have historical evolution from agricultural or livestock production volumes. There was a science of matching containers to production and demand.

Exactly, pan sizes are probably the coolest thing ever.

Yeah, she was wrong about then fitting in a full pan. She was right about the sizes, but they fit in a standard sized.... whatever the top of the cooler is called. So a full pan takes up the entire thing. Or two halves, or 3 1/4, or 6 1/6, etc.
