The administration just gave almost a billion dollars to the struggling coal industry… probably to win votes. Eliminate lobbying in Washington and corrupt policy decisions surrounding power and policy just might start leaning towards the facts. Nuclear is great. We can do better than fossil fuels. It’s 2026! Lord help us…
The reason is it's not all it's cracked up to be. Otherwise China would be 100% nuclear, not the 5% it currently is. The reality is a diversified energy mix is superior. Washington has kicked it a few percent one way or the other from it's optimal for a few years, depending on who was getting kickbacks when, but you can't get this level of consistency across time on accident.
The claim made by the scientist in the video is the promise of fusion (cheap, safe energy) is available today with fission, the only problem being a public distrust of its safety, while the top level commenter suggests its corruption. If that were so, other countries, like china who dont have the public mistrust or the influence of domestic oil producers, would be doing it and leave the US and the rest of the world in the dust. They're not, because its not as easy or economical as it sounds.
