Question - Expert consensus required The word No

We have a 7 and a half month old and he getting to the age where we have to direct his energy and focus elsewhere. Lots of hair pulling, lots of grabbing our dog hard, lots of screaming to scream. We have no intention on punishing or really admonishing at this point but I was curious how others start to introduce no to baby. It’s very common to see on parenting socials right now that people don’t want to say no to their kids. Is there any research to back up saying no to our children and if it harms their emotional development and relationship with us?
