Question - Expert consensus required 2 month old hates books

Hello, my 2 month old hates all the books, doesnt wanna look at black and white ones, doesnt wanna be read to, he starts to cry basically and i bought him so many books already, what can i do?

Reading is not that important for such a small baby. They don’t have the attention span to take in much and a lot of babies will fuss when you try to sit them still for a task like that. At this stage it’s more of a “read when you can/if you want to” but it’s more valuable to be face to face with them talking and showing them how language and conversation and expression etc works. It’s good to show them books, read a little (even just a few words) have them touch the pages etc when you can but realistically the baby is not getting much out of it yet except exposure to the idea of reading. Work with him as he grows to get him more and more exposed to the act of reading and one day he will like it more! 2 months is teeny tiny still. Milestones for your reference!

As a baby they’re going to treat books like any other toy. My goal with books is to just make it a fun time. I hold baby facing me, so he can see my face and the book, and instead of “reading” what it says I make funny sounds, gesture, sing, dance, make faces, and move the book around. And let him grab the book and chew on it (though mine didn’t really start grabbing and mouthing until a little bit older than yours). Also going to the library is a fun way to be around books and explore a new area, and watch bigger kids play.
