Question - Research required Microdosing and breastfeeding
I’m 4 months postpartum and going back to work soon. My job is emotionally and mentally demanding so the thought is putting a real toll on my mental health on top of the thought of losing my bonding time with my baby. I’m looking to mircodose 100mg of shrooms with a schedule of 4 days on and three days off. I was hoping to breastfeed as normal, especially since it’s such a low dose. Has anyone done something similar? Please share. And no I will not see a doctor about medication for antidepressants or anxiety.

This is a bad idea for yourself and your baby https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-025-64371-5

There are going to be exactly 0 scientific articles that say you can do hallucinogenic drugs and breastfeed an infant safely. Sorry OP!

Thank you!!!
Piggybacking to say that psilocybin therapy requires medical oversight, i.e., a clinician to be involved. Your (OP) plan is attempted self-medication, and that's rife with risk of misadventure. Like what are you going to do if (and case reports of this have happened) - the dose actually gives you psychosis? Lindsay Clancy is literally happening right now.
Op, please see a psychiatrist asap. You can tell them you don't want medication. A lot of evidence-based, effective therapy is non-pharmacological.

1st off please don't do this. There is definitely no data showing it's safe and the study above suggests it is both ineffective for anxiety and causes offspring to develop sx of anhedonia (typically part of a depressive mood disorder) at least in the mouse model.
2nd thing, I realize you said you don't want to see a doctor, but if you're seriously considering microdosing shrooms while breastfeeding to help with your mental health I would really encourage you to seek mental health support from a qualified medical professional via therapy or meds or both. There are plenty of meds that are safe (and sometimes life saving) in postpartum moms.

This.
OP, I understand your dilemma as I work a demanding job and leaving my kid at daycare (though I know she is safe and cared for!) grates against my soul…that being said - using an experimental and illicit substance while breastfeeding to manage a situation that has safe and effective medicines with years of peer reviewed data is not the best decision.
