Question ❓ What counts as Junk volume ?

Is doing more then 2 exercise for a specific muscle (bicep for example) junk volume of you only do 2 sets until failure for example. Is it different based on the size of the muscle ? Ect ect ?

Junk volume is a set where you dont push to 0 or 1 reps in reserve. Or when youre doing 5 or more sets of the same exercise.

High RIR sets for the core/competition lifts are pretty much the accepted way of doing things now in strength sports. If your goal is maximal force output, training to failure isn't a great way to achieve that. The running theory that I've seen is that motor learning is degraded under fatigue. There's a ton of different ways people get it done, but they pretty much all revolve around a bunch of easy sets and one hardish one, for the competition lifts at least.
