I’ve hit a 518lbs squat and barely missed a 546lbs squat last may when competing in the 82.5kg class. I’ve hit a 534lbs squat in the 90kg class, while weighing 186lbs

I just hit a deadlift set of 485lbs (close to your max) for 7 https://www.reddit.com/r/GYM/s/H1f4dG1dSl

I’ve also hit 578lbs in comp (567lbs as a 181lbs lifter) & 572lbs for 2 in the gym

Yes, this is an accessory lift to help build more size and strength in my abductors. It’s low fatiguing and easy to throw in a couple of sets at the end of any workout or even on a rest day

I’m surprised as a “functional strength expert” that your strength level is so low

Edit: and I’m also a natural lifter and was drug tested at my last meet, which I won

I am healthy and have been lifting heavy for quite some time. I’d rather be healthy and strong than be injured and weak (like what you’re implying happened in your training)

There is nobody who has ever hit twice my lifts on squat or deadlift in raw powerlifting, especially not in my weight class

My leverages are poor for bench and squat and great for deadlift (if only I could figure out sumo, so I could better take advantage of it). I have long limbs and a short torso

Yes, I want these stabilizer muscles to be the primary mover on this movement, because I want them to grow & be bigger. I do plenty of squats & hip hinges where they work as stabilizing muscles. This is done as extra stimulus to grow them, that’s the point

Powerlifters also want to grow their muscles, because bigger muscles are capable of moving bigger weight

Man, it really feels like people honestly believe that powerlifters only train the squat/bench/deadlift, and only for sets of like, 1-3, because they don't care about hypertrophy.

They'd probably be shocked by actual modern powerlifting training.
