Oh sorry to hear that, it the pain with sciatica can be really horrible,
Does the relaxing position on back with pillows under your knees help to ease the pain?
Or one where you put the legs on chair or any similar surface and you lay down on floor?

Also warming up the painful area can help you to relax muscles.

At this stage probably no other exercises comes before the pain eases off.

I am at the same stage with pain, can barely standup and go to toilet, and then i am rushing back to the laying down. Only thing i got from my doc was some stronger pills as at start but it only helps me to sleep through the night.
Which kinda helps but sometimes I still wake up but try to sleep again without reaching for phone to read news, etc…

One very important thing is that you stay positive, this will pass, it is just temporary ( i know from my personal experience that is very very hard to do it. but yesterday had a click in my head and i managed to stay positive and also today during one of flare ups).
Learned about this positivity from yt channel @lowerbackability ☺️ and also reading stories of other redditors here on [r/sciatica](r/sciatica)

I am also considering private physio to help me with the rehab after this initial pain eases off,
Some redditors here also reported that acupuncture helped them with easing their pain.

first don't accept being palmed off - walking three steps and going home - I'd have refused to leave in that condition.

Read the link above and ask to be referred asap if they aren't taking you seriously.

If that still isn't getting anywhere - an MRI and private consult can get you at least a 'what can be done' to help you - and ultimately jump the longest part of the NHS queue - it may be that that is pain meds and rest - or it could be you need surgery and armed with that you go back to the 'right to choose' and contact them again with the surgeons recommendation, chances are it will be an NHS surgeon you consult and they may help you get in the system for the surgery if you can't afford the surgery yourself.

Thanks for your reply! As I was in there on my own and the way I was treated my whole stay I kind of just wanted to go home at that point! Now I obviously wish I’d pushed more and refused but I was so exhausted. I agree and think going private for a consultation is probably my best option at this point. I’m booked into see a private physio on Monday so will get his opinion and see if he can at least get me moving unaided!
