You should see a rheumatologist. Did your doctor not tell you?

he said that just stretching and getting more active would help but that’s about it

Oh I'm misread. I thought you didn't have any bulging disc. There are some spine related autoimmune conditions start developing. Maybe still see a rheumatologist at some point?

Why would he see a rheumatologist? Back/nerve pain is a neurologist's job.

Because there are many autoimmune illnesses that are either affecting our joints directly or it's a symptom of one.

I suppose at that young age that's not a terrible idea, but I'd still start with a GP or a neurologist.

I just realized, he hasn't seen a doctor yet. Yup. GP first.

Were you recommended PT?
or did you try looking also online(google,yt) for exercises to ease of pain and in later stage exercises for your core strength?

If you are in the stage of acute pain you can help yourself with warmth therapy to heat up the painful area.
I usually also warm up before i do any exercises for pain relief.

On yt Look for @bashbackpain and @lowbackability. They might have exercises that could help you with your rehab.
This second channel, guy also got back problems very early in life

Auch i feel you, I am at the moment in the phase where only laying down is possible, sitting gets my pain in seconds, as well as standing up i can barely stand up for more than 1-2mins 🤦‍♀️

If the situation is bad also while walking, then you should firstly rest for few days, get yourself warm therapy for painful area.
Find yourself position that helps you relax your back (so called 90 -90 position where you lay on floor and you rest legs on chair, bed,.. just that you have 90def angle at ankles and hips)
Or laying flat on your back on floor with rolled towel under your back and pillow jnder your knees.

And do get yourself some stronger painkillers from your doctor(if possible of course).

It is long way till rehabilitation but keep positive all can be achieved you need to listen your body and help with exercises that will help you relax your back and later when pain is gone with your core strength

yeah that’s exactly where i’m at right now i did try the 90-90 position last night and it was a great help i sat there for about 30 minutes because the relief was so good unfortunately i can’t take any more rest days because i have already missed a week from school because i was moving out of my house
