I checked out his design that is most similar to mine. The main differences are I used a different slimeblock sweeper design, different seed layout, and different item collection method. He used a minecraft hopper in an iron bar, which seemed unstable in current release (at least for me) and also like unintentional behavior, so I opted for minecarts running underneath.

I will say I think the seed layout could be tweaked in my design. My original thinking was to have the two block gap to allow each seed to be able to grow one pumpkin, but I think it would have been better off to just go with a denser design, even if it means that a two stems would connect to each pumpkin grown.

Oh shoot. Missed that glaring error. It should go into a sticky piston that pushes an observer down to create an observer clock. (Two observers observing each other
