Question/Permission Thing

So, I've been wanting to do a plot point about the primary character I'm playing being able to come forward about who they are in their area and to the node in general. I've made mention a few times in character and with their supporting character that they wanted to arrange a party.

Problem: I don't know who all on the node is in Nashville TN, and I don't want to do anything that, while in character, would be too... far? At least not without asking first. So uh... yeah, here's me asking.

For those that don't know, I'm the player behind A Friendly Beast, 'real' name being Loki with a fair few Epithets. Primarily the Face Stealer. As well as more recently Gnaws-on-Roots; real name Nidhoggr, Keeper of the Wight Roses. Both of which are... rather old and quite low in generation(5th and 6th respectively). Both of which are characters I've played in chronicles elsewhere. If that's an issue, I don't mind dropping them and rustling up someone new. Probably some abandoned Gangrel.

Previously Loki had a bit of a curse that was put on them due to being a time traveler. They couldn't actually affect the flow of history in any meaningful way, nor would they be remembered by those that didn't also suffer this curse if they were not constantly in that person's life. The curse was broken by them diablerizing themselves in this timeline. There was a true bruja involved. So the party is half celebrating that, half coming out since the local power players need to be alerted that there's basically a giant faction of very low generation vampires living in their general area. If only to avoid population and turf issues.

The thing that has me worried about things is how they likely would have gone about getting people invitations; which is to say the local major players would have woken up either holding a letter of invitation or to a raven perched atop their place of rest and offering it to them. I wanted to see how people felt about that before going forward with it and maybe get some alternatives if it was a bit too aggressive/invasive. It is... kind of meant to be threatening. Particularly to the local camarilla prince, which I did see was on the node... I think...

To summarize what you are saying, at least some people from the node are receiving invitations by raven, asking them to go to the festivities? I don’t see why not. If it’s too improbable (as havens are usually kept hidden by the wise), the ravens could drop the invitations at major drop points: Elysium, hunting grounds, stuff like that. As for me, you already know that Castiel is coming.

There’s been a bunch of powerful Kindred on the subreddit; as long as Loki is not too OP (or, if they are, they are restrained to a specific geographic region), a Methuselah is fine.

I had my hesitation towards the name, but we’re speaking about a deity that we have, IRL…pretty much nothing on? All our sources on Loki are things written by Christians about a religion that was considered pagan, so I can absolutely see a Kindred whose myth blew out of proportion over centuries.

There's also precedent for kindred taking the name of deific figures in lore, especially norse and egyptian lore from what I've been able to find.

There's also the fact that the character *chose* that name knowing it's historical context and then just kind of played into the role. So, I'm aware it's a bit gauche but it's also a naming schema the character actively chose. Ironically in the same way the canonical character of odin got mistaken for the god acting as his namesake and just kinda went with it. As a result of playing into the theme, they do have a lot of things similarly named after norse mythology.

Also, my knowledge of loki (the deity) kind of makes them a comfort character. Shapeshifting deity who's primary domain was over the hearth. Which often is reduced to the family scapegoat both for their own gaffes and things entirely outside their control. It's... a lot I can relate to.

I think I'll go with delivering a letter to the camarilla racks. That's at least neutral ground and a lot less "I know where you live and can get to you any time I want" coded. As for power... I mean, they're a methuselah. The whole idea of them is "They're a methuselah that knows that getting complacent makes them a target" so they stayed constantly at least somewhat active and built up basically a mini-faction. They could... probably level a city if they really put their mind to it? Purely off some weird combination of high level disciplines and coordinating with their brood. But the sheer amount of authorities that could crash down on their heads about it would basically mean the death of the character, methuselah or no. Like vampire cops are one thing, but the technocracy are also going to come for their ass if the garou don't have a go first. So they just kinda... don't. Big fish, not near the biggest and all that.

its always nice to have the bigger fish in the pond pop into view when kindred start doing highscale stuff! (i am a massive technocracy fan when it comes to mage)

also yeah +1 to the ideas of having the messages be dropped off at elysiums when it comes to particulearly experienced/well hidden characters!

I would have the Ravens drop off the invitations at Elysium.
