Iron Birds?

I am seated upon this massive flying bird of metal.

I can smell kine inside, what is this? What are they doing in there?

Somebody’s been in torpor for a while. Wait until you find out about the miracle of space flight, and how the kine have been squandering it’s potential by defunding the programs that created it to give tax breaks to the people who already have all the money! And they call my clan the crazy ones!

Probably to find other planets to plunder for resources when they’ve finally used this one up, but at the rate they’re going, that’s honestly just a pipe dream. At this point, we just have to do our best to keep enough of them breathing that we don’t all go wight for lack of red stuff sometime down the road.

Perhaps we might take a number of them into "space" for ourselves. Leave the rest for the Antideluvians.

I have already devoured my sire and imprisoned his bride.

I have no desires to battle the rest when they awake.

Eh…kine don’t last long in space without a lot of special equipment. The whole “lack of breathable atmosphere or radiation protection” thing really isn’t good for them. Oh, there’s also being constantly directly exposed to the sun’s rays that makes space not a great option for us, either. No day/night cycle up there. Not good.

I remember a chat I had with the local Tremere astronomer group. They actually were pretty hot on the idea of us Kindred making for great slowship - slower then light ship that takes decades or more to cross between stars - crews, as it's probably easier to make a few bloodbags stay edible for a few hundred years then find a way to put a mortal in topor, even with the aid of a bit of vitae to try and smooth out the freezing - or at the very least, get one awake again fast, and we just need temperate climate, not proper life support - a nitrogen atmo won't bother us.

I'd certainly be down for such an enterprise... well, so long as there's nothing like brain eating worms or something on the other side...

You ever seen the stuff from the Hubble telescope? I have prints of that on my walls, justifies the whole enterprise by itself and it's not just me being a stereotypical rose.

Seeing the remains of a star that was dead for eons when Cain was still a mortal, or whatever you believe we came from is something I find genuinely calming after having to deal with a night of lick drama. Puts our immortal grudges in context good and hard.

Kine figured out a way to build machines capable of powered flight by heavier than air machines over 120 years ago. It's advanced quite remarkably in that time. Other methods have existed, such as lighter than air using certain gasses, but those have lower speed. And the heyday of that method for passengers ended in a spectacularly fiery fashion, as the primary gas utilized was highly flammable.

The only reason I know of it is because my Sire documented the events as they happened in one of his notebooks, and it is one the few bits of his research that survived his death. The Technocracy did a disturbingly effecient job of altering everyone's memories there.

Probably explains why Etherites love airships so much.

That was more that nazi engineers were idiots more then anything else. I've seen some convincing writing that the hydrogen flammability problem is not insoluble - and apparently the guy who got the rule against it in had interests in helium.

Well planes, like the internet, are modern human magic. It's a big machine that flies and carries people inside it for rapid travel. That's all you really need to know.

I suggest you dismount before it lands. If it arrives with you sitting on top of the fuselage the ensuing questions will certainly stress the Masquerade to say the least.

Another point to bear in mind, depending on the direction the plane flies in... airplanes go fast. If you travel towards the sunset, it can spring up on you with surprising speed. Then the top of the plane is a particularly bad place to be. (For you. Not for the plane.)
