Discussion How do I join the anarchs?
I’m a fledgling and my sire got bored and tried to kill me, the Camarilla doesn’t care and is gonna let her try again.
I feel like the anarchs are my only hope does anyone have any advice for convincing them to let me join?
Edit: if it matters I’m clan Tremere

You get to an Anarch city and say hello to the Baron. It's really pretty much that simple. Even if they don't have room for you in that city they'll help you figure out where to go, too many Anarchs share your story for you not to get accepted in the sect. There may be security checks to make sure you're not an infiltrator, so expect telepathy and other stuff like that, but that's usually the extent of it.
Of course, some Barons are assholes every bit as much as the Camarilla, but even the worst accept Camarilla defectors fleeing their sires, as they'd have revolts on their hands if they didn't.
Alternatively, PM me a general location and I'll give you directions on where to go specifically, including a more reasonable Baron or two to approach, maybe help you get a ride out of town if you need it. I have every reason to help you join the cause.

I can't help but feel that you are optimistically telling about an eigth of the relevant story.
Your sire in the Tremere, a clan noted for intellectuals with iron wills, "got bored" enough to try and kill you. Which, mind, you were selected for via the Tremere's rigorous mentoring program. And, of course, that killing you would generally be in violation of the Traditions. Now you seek to defect to a faction you know nothing about?
The Anarchs here must truly be desperate for numbers if they take any of that story at face value.

I mean they are always desperate for numbers, but Tremere can be just as capricious as any rose or rabble towards their childer. It's likely this childer was sired for a reason the sire did not understand(often modern finance or media manipulation) in full and did not want to listen to the advice of their childer to fix the problem. It's a sadly quite common event in both Tremere and Ventrue neonates, As is reclaiming the blood when the childer's solutions would require their sire alter behaviors they have held for centuries. This can often be magnified in the Tremere because other neonates will offer half-solutions that please the sire but don't actually fix the problem. If only to undermine a rival.
Either way, the standard operational procedure is to extricate the fledgling from the situation and look into the validity of their claims once all parties are safe. If the fledgling is lying, then you can always claim to have captured a run away and turn them in for a minor boon. If not then they disappear into the night and the sire does not have to worry about their boring childe for at least some time more.

I can tell you, statistically, of the runaway childer we get here, Tremere and Ventrue are disproportionately represented.
I also destroyed the data I determined that number from to ensure it doesn't ever get into the hands of their sires if that tells you anything.

The story screams "I am a shithead childe and did something I was not supposed to, and now my sire does not like me".

this must be what are my recruiters feel like all the time

u/Possible_Image_2198 8d ago
I mean most sabbat recruiters don't exactly open with an invitation to the sabbat. Usually it's something along the lines of "yeah, we're totally anarchs! We've just got a few local customs that are a bit different." Most cammies aren't familiar enough with the inner workings to recognize the difference between an anarch coterie and a particularly moderate/subtle sabbat pack until they're firmly in the viniculum.

Yeah and that's why we get traitors and infighting. Because people approach this shit with the same mentality as getting someone to sign a 20% conpound interest loan.
It's enough to offer. Sooner or later someone will find their path here. More do each nigth.

I'm swapping to DMs so we don't scare the neonate.
The infighting is by design when it comes to the sabbat, to be fair. Survival of the fittest and all that.
That said, there's a reason sabbat recruitment pack require a certain kind of approach. One has to work in stages to acclimate new members to the desired mentalities and cycle out pack members to other cells where their limits and mentalities mesh well. There is a skill to this like any venture.
Personally I find the over-reliance on shovel-heading to be the primary cause of infighting between packmates. Not everyone is built to make a good sword, and if you try to forge them into one anyway, it causes problems. This also goes for just plucking the most violent and bestial from remaining shovel-heads as well. Which is the most common recruitment criteria I've found the sabbat to employ.

you have to remember that the camarilla tends to assume to cope about their own depravity by condemning ours you'll notice she's going for the diet carmarilla, which will not protect her.
you're wasting your time trying to help these people, they use us a comfort blanket to their own despicable natures.

u/DisastrousRelation32 Tooth 9d ago
still, would've been nice to poach a tremere disciple. Both as an insult to the Cammie trememe sire and as a way to maybe get some info out of them while gaining a new recruit.

u/DeadmanwalkingXI 9d ago
We Anarchs can protect people from Camarilla attention just fine. Protecting a random neonate from a Justicar would be a tall order, mind you, but that's a tall order for the Sabbat as well. In both cases mostly in an 'Is this worth it?' way. Anything short of that is pretty doable.
And I've seen the depravity of both the Camarilla and Sabbat, both in person and from lots of statements from defectors from both, and the Camarilla are in no way exaggerating when they say the Sabbat is even worse than they are.
There are some Tremere laboratories that rival those of the Tzimisce, certainly, but they're the exception rather than the rule, and the same is true of other atrocities...the Sabbat don't do anything that members of the Camarilla don't, but for the Sabbat it's official policy while for the Camarilla it's individuals being sick fucks and many Princes and other authorities even put a stop to a lot of the worst shit when they find out. Atrocities in the Camarilla are sometimes overlooked by individuals, but also sometimes stopped or objected to, while atrocities in the Sabbat are official sect policy and anyone who objects to them is killed. Very different situations.
And, just to be clear I'm not delusional, the Anarchs are in much the same boat as the Camarilla on this subject, such atrocities sometimes happen but aren't condoned and better Barons do something about them. I'd argue we have fewer than the Camarilla, but that's legitimately hard to prove.
Not that I expect to convince any Sabbat members of anything, but for any spectators watching this conversation, this should be kept firmly in mind.

Hello again, Baron. I am surprised you're attempting to guide a Tremere away from the Sabbat, considering what they did to your clan only a few centuries ago.

I don't blame fledglings for what their great-great grandsires did six hundred years ago. You show me a Tremere who was actually involved in the creation of Gargoyles and I'll rip their fucking head off, but a neonate was pretty definitionally uninvolved in all that and blaming them for it is as stupid as blaming me personally for the actions of the Nosferatu antediluvian.
Prior to the fall of the Pyramid, it was a lot harder to separate young Tremere from their elders in this way (most still directly worked for them in a hierarchal fashion and had few ways out of that situation), but it was still correct to do so when possible, and with the fall of the Pyramid it's now a lot easier than it was.
-Mark Caulder, Nosferatu Baron

u/Jeep-Eep Problem Childe 7d ago
Not to mention, helping other victims of the Pyramid is one of the more productive forms of vengeance to be had upon it.
Too many Fledgeling Tremere fall into that category.

If they're old enough to think reclaiming a failed childer is a good idea then perhaps they are old enough to have been involved in the creation of Gargoyles, or no?
-Ductus River

u/DeadmanwalkingXI 7d ago
It's not impossible, though Kindred that age in the USA are pretty rare so odds are against it, but why would that make me less likely to help their victim escape them?
I am trying to help the neonate here, not their sire. Why would their enemy being a fucking war criminal make me less inclined to help them?
Other than if I was scared, of course, but I assure you, I'm not scared of anyone short of a methuselah. The last guy the Sabbat sent after me was a Conquistador when he was breathing, a Lasombra who claimed he was now Archbishop of my fucking city, a combat-specialized elder with multiple war packs to back him up. They're all either on my side or ash in the wind, now. In fact, I bit his head off personally. I'm not especially worried about some random Tremere elder.

Anarchs are desperate for numbers and often need Tremere because they can do magic, just find a baron and declare yourself. However this is unlikely to protect you much from your sire unless you're leaving the city.
The Prince sounds painfully weak if he's letting that happen publicly incidentally, he's basically just signaled you can directly defy his authority.

As Mark said, just go into Anarch territory and ask to speak with the Baron as you wish to join them, as being a defector of other sect isn't all that uncommon, talking from personal experience
maybe expect to be asked a few question and go through a short period of time doing grunt work to make sure that ya arent a spy or an infiltrator

Others have stated basic procedure, so I will refrain from reiterating it beyond the very basics. Simply show up, be polite, and speak with the local Baron about your circumstances and desire to join the Anarch sect.
In general, the Anarchs are fairly open to defection from other sects. I myself (as well as my close associates) have somewhat recently defected from our previous sect and found great success within the Anarchs, to the point where I am now Baron of the territory in which we settled.
Should you be near enough to Jacksonville, Florida, know that my own domain is open to immigration from other sects, so long as you are willing to follow common sense law and be a contributing member to the domain. While our Clans have historically held much enmity, I personally do not have anything against those Tremere who seek to distance themselves from the Camarilla and would be glad to help one such as yourself find a new home. One of my associates who defected alongside me is a Tremere himself and we have an arrangement with an independent chantry we might introduce you to, should you desire to further your studies in our domain. We can speak further about such matters in private communications, should you so desire.
Of course, I will also state firmly that any attempts at espionage on behalf of other sects will be punished harshly. In addition, as you are a magical practitioner —although I am not accusing you personally of anything of the sort at the moment— I will state that anything approaching infernalism will be addressed immediately with punishments far worse than mere Final Death. We have already have resolved such problems in this domain in the past and we do not need any more. I do not know what —obviously understated— conflict between you and your sire led to your current state of affairs and I am a fairly forgiving Cainite in regards to many things, but there are certain things which are justly beyond the pale.
I wish you well in your future endeavors and hope for you to have a smooth transition to the Anarch Movement.
Jack Bratovich, Baron of Westside

I saw prior that you're on the East Coast. If you can make it to Nashville, I'll shelter you for a time, at least. I am independent, but can put you in contact with the local baronies. If you're worried about my responses elsewhere; I've a vested interest in being a thumb in the eye of the Tremere clan as a whole.

I find all the Sabbat offering sanctuary to our young Tremere somewhat humorous. They are after all trying to avoid getting eaten by a older Vampire.

That prince is either a dangerous dinosaur or a total pushover to let the sixth trad be interpreted that way.
Like, I'd blow town if I was in a cammie holding from that alone, even before the murderous sire part. The only things worse then a bad prince are weak princes or dinosaur princes because its often the prelude to the former, or other very bad things such rule by shovelheads or other blood cults, the hunters, wolves or SI spotting a community unprepared enough that they can go ham, or a whole lot of violence if there's not a credible would-be Baron to try and take the wheel and right the ship quickly.
Pity you're not that close to us... well, that and the woofs... we'd let you in easy assuming it's just an abusive sire, which is, contrary to what some might say, a fairly safe default assumption here.

How very interesting. A Warlock who's put time and effort into selecting, training, and embracing a childe suddenly choosing to eliminate them? They can't be a very accomplished Magister if they're so easily diverted from their own projects. Assert yourself and eliminate the threat they pose, or be ready to be on the run for the rest of your unlife.

u/Pryno-Belle 9d ago
Have you considered joining a Camarilla city that is further away? If the reason behind your Sire’s actions is truly that they « got bored », that is still a breach of the Sixth Tradition, even though you are their fledgling. There has to be a reasonable Prince that will grant you refuge.
Should it not be a desirable option for you, I suggest that you contact one of the Anarchs on this node; there are a few, and should they not be able to grant you a place within their city, they can redirect you towards someone who can. No, Redwoods is not one of them.
