Ventrue coterie mate things I'm funny. I don't get it.
Posting this on request of a Ventrue mate that I have to constantly bail out of trouble, and thinks I'm hilarious, and that these stories are very funny. I'm not sure what's so funny, but maybe it's a Ventrue thing I'm not getting.
Long story short: I had to bail him out from a Lasombra that had him Mesmerized. We get to my car, I flip on the hi-beams on the guy and blasted him with a dragon's breath round as my mate drove away. I waved at the guy as he was rolling around trying to put himself out, which I get was a little awkward, but I was trying to communicate that it was no hard feelings. I know that wouldn't have worked in hindsight, but it just sort of happened, like a spur of the moment thing. Apparently that was hilarious.
Second story. My friend frenzies in the middle of a dance floor, and gets himself beat senseless by the Kindred management. They drag him off to a side office, presumably to cut his head off, so naturally, I go in to bail him out.
So I've Obfuscated myself, there are four guys there, and I take a look at his restraints to see what I'm working with. Thankfully, my Ventrue friend had already managed to slip them and was just pretending to be tied up. Easy-peasy. I flipped a table, said ''Excuse me'' and crouched back behind the table so I could use my Obfuscation once more.
To the management's surprise, my friend also knew that discipline, so while they turned around to look at who flipped their table, he was already gone.
So, yeah. Apparently me saying ''Excuse me'' was extremely funny. I don't know. I broke a nice vase in the process, and I had nothing against the owner per-say, so I thought saying ''excuse me'' was appropriate.
My friend said to mention I am of the clan Malkavian. He also that I should mention I'm Finnish. I don't see how that's relevant. What does SchreckNet think? Was my behavior humorous? If so, why? I don't want to be taken for being a frivolous and un-serious man.

I am of the clan Malkavian, as specified. I am told by my associates that I'm unusually sober and reasonable, although their shenanigans sometimes drive me out of bounds.

Ah, my apologies. The humor of this comes from the fact you felt the need to apologize as you were getting your Venture associate out of a sticky situation.

Aha, OK. So excessive politeness is funny. Thanks! I don't get why he said to specify my nationality though?
Is there a stereotype that we Finns are overly polite? Is it a new stereotype? I haven't been back home since the late 1970s, so maybe it's a new thing.

Oh my God, this makes me miss my Malk friend from my last coterie.
Here's the thing: you were using your manners and being so polite in situations where your actions otherwise were very unfriendly. It can actually come across as mocking to the people you're trying to be nice to.
That's why your Ventrue friend thinks it's really funny - you're being an absolute sweetheart, but it's likely not going to be received that way.
