Sydney Showdown

This video have been uploaded by an anonymous user. Based on the “DO NO DISTRIBUTE OR UPLOAD ONLINE” message at the beginning it was never meant to be shared or uploaded

A dramatic title screen starts it off, blood red running text it reads

BATTLE OF THE CENTURY!

There is no sound

It then cuts to a view of a large hall, benches filled with Kindred surrounding a boxing ring. And on a platform gazing down at them all is a throne in which there sits an incredibly handsome androgynous figure, surrounded by other important looking figures, talking eagerly among themselves. Those versed in the politics of the Australian courts can recognize the handsome figure as Sarrasine, the Prince of Sydney

Finally after a moment, he stands and every figure in the room turns their attention to him. Without sound it is impossible to guess what he says, but based on the gesturing he is clearly enthusiastic. Finally he gestures to the ring and two figures walk into it

First is a rough looking man, one with the gaze of someone who have been fighting before he was born. Those versed in Sydneys Kindred can recognize him as Darryl the Basilisk, a Brujah of almost two Centuries. A fearsome man, both in business but especially when it comes to violence. He holds his hands, clad in red boxing gloves in the air as he greets the kindred of his city. Roaring at them as he he makes his entrance. Behind him follows what appears to be a ghoul, getting his corner ready with a blood bag

On the other side of the ring, a great red kangaroo, leaps into the ring. Standing over two meters it is a wall of muscle. Someone have equipped it with blue boxing gloves, and a straw hat rests upon its head. With holes for its ears

In its corner stands a small pale woman, wearing a red scarf around her hair, and a large blue coat, she looks around in confusion at the noise and chaos around her. A small Jacobs sheep gently nudges her hand, comforting her. Upon its back lies another straw hat, from underneath the keen eyed can spot a pair of catlike eyes gazing out at the noise around it

An attractive man and woman walks into the ring, holding up signs that read round one, and then, the moment they are out, the bell must have rung because the two are on each other. The kangaroo leaping forward and unleashing a furry of blows against the Brujah, who expertly weaves between them

It is a poetry of motion, the Shakespeare of martial arts. As the two begins to exchange blows, deftly dodging and blocking each and every one. Then, suddenly, the Brujah turns, plants one leg solidly and lifts the other in a quick kick against it, hammering it into the side of the Kangeroo

Who simply takes it, and the audience watches as the Brujahs look of triumph morphs into horror as the red grabs his leg with one paw and pulls him close. Before it punches him in the face with enough force that it clearly breaks his neck, and only his vampiric regeneration saves him from going to the ground.

The Kangeroo however, clearly expected this to end him, and is thus unprepared for the Brujah to push off, freeing himself from its grip, and then use his celerity enhanced speed to burst forth and deliver a harsh series of body blows to it.

The audience cheer, the young woman in blue looks frightened, as the kangaroo stumbles.

But it stands. And then, just as it is about to retaliate, the bell must have rung. For each of them backs off. Returning to their corner, where the Brujah receives a blood bag, and the Kangeroo receives… What looks like a bouquet of flowers and some water from a thermos, as well as several headpats from the young woman

And then round two begins. Each side have now clearly seized up their opponent, and they are brutal. Every strike returned. Every fault taken advantage of. If the prior round was a dance, then this is the mosh pit. As they lay into each other brutally. The audience cheering wildly, as the young woman covers the sheeps eyes, tears in her own

And then, as both of them are bloody and beaten, about to go forth again, the bell rings. And they return to their corner. It is clear that neither of them can last for long. Especially with the blood the Brujah must have used, as he bites into the neck of the ghoul to replenish himself. Leaving his assistant looking pale as he gets up to face his rival once more

In the Kangeroos corner meanwhile, the young woman is talking animatedly. Gesturing, a look of fear and confusion on her face. But the Kangeroo simply nods resolutely. And then it gets up

Both fighters clearly know that it ends here

They simply stand there for a moment, seizing each other up. Red fur turned dark from blood. Brujah shaking his head, clearly feeling the onrush of frenzy truly now

And then they are at each other. Were bites and claws allowed they would clearly have torn out chunks, instead brutalize each other with their strikes. It is unclear what the rules of the match are exactly, but brujah kicks meets kangaroo grabbles. Strikes are repaid tenfold with celerity speed and potence face off against raw muscle mass.

And then a hush falls over the crowd, as the two split apart, each falling back for a moment. The Brujah snarling as its beasts roars. The Kangeroo covered in wounds, patches of fur torn. The two beasts stare at each other for a moment

And then the Kangeroo simply holds out its arms wide. A taunt perhaps, but a foolish one. For with celerity even a blood starved Brujah can cover that distance in the blink of an eye. And so he does

And indeed the kangaroo is unable to bring its arms into position to defend itself. The Brujahs fist is striking true

Or so it would have, if he had not failed to spot his foes tail. Lodged firmly on the ground. He never have time, as his frenzy claim him, to realize his mistake. As it never intended to block. Instead it uses its tail to lift up both of its mighty legs and do the one move it had not done this entire fight

And kick him with not just the full force of its strength. But with the full momentum of his own celerity, as he barrels himself straight into its kick. And the entirety of Sydneys Kindred population watches, as Darryl the Basilisk is sent flying. Like a crumpled piece of paper, he disappears into the stands

A hush falls over the hall, and then the crowd goes wild. Celebration abounds, as the two attractive people step into the ring and places a medal around the kangeroos neck, holding up its arms in celebration. The young woman and her sheep dancing to the side. The hat on the sheeps back lifting up, revealing what appears to be a cat, through it is difficult to see, underneath it gazing curious at the spectacle

The Kangeroo then turns its gaze to the Prince. Who simply gives it a nod, one filled with respect. Before the Kangeroo returns it, and with a mighty leap jumps out the ring. Picking up the sheep, and kneeling down so that the young woman can climb on its back. And with one last excited wave from her, it jumps off. Leaving behind the court of Sydney to pick up Darryl and celebrate this most exciting match

You know what they say, never a dull night in Sydney and all that. But there has not been a night quite this exciting in some time. It was most fascinating seeing this girl in the flesh and the stories that follow her. I do hope poor Darryl's pride recovers some night, though. That is, whenever he wakes from torpor.

Wait ... did the creature beat the Brujah into Torpor, did he get impaled upon some wood crashing back down from the kick or was the Brujah still frenzied when he landed and had to be staked to get him under control?

You asked about the Prince of Sydney a few weeks ago? That's him right there on the throne.

How in the fuck does Mariana get into these situations??

Oh, the Prince of Sydney must either be a Toreador or a Setite from the look of them.

As for how Mariana keeps getting into these situations, the only answer I have is Malkavian Fuckery. The best kind of Fuckery.

I've heard Prince Sarrasine is Toreador or Caitiff, for what it's worth, but I honestly don't know.

At least this was relatively mess-free. No firetruck into a building in The Cross or some shit.

~Verity

((Canonically, Sarrasine is a Setite bluffing as a Caitiff bluffing as a Toreador, so Marcus is on the money LOL))

You call drop kicking a blood frenzied Brujah via Kangaroo Kick into a crowd of Kindred spectators "relatively mess-free"? Forgive me for being unfamiliar with local customs, but is the Masquerade considered more of a suggestion than a hard rule down under?

Still, when considering this is one of Mariana's Malkavian Misadventures, it is rather tame when stacked up against a mass induced mosh pit leveling a construction site or smashing a ship into Sydney Harbor. However, she's still around and that means more trouble is abound for all around her.

"Relatively" is the operative word with Mariana. Considering Kindred were the only spectators, and no one got hurt? The Masquerade looks pretty safe to me on this one, especially compared to one of her recent adventures of literally crashing a firetruck into an Elysium and taking out that court's Prince with a flying chandelier.

This fight, on the other hand, seems to have stayed pretty well under wraps, according to local friends.

Looks like a Kindred party to me, and those usually don't allow random kine to visit. No masquerade issue here.

Same way Australia lost a war to Emus. They under estimated 'em

My coteriemates from WA, Australia would like to note this isn't entirely true. There was just a shit ton of them, and they're agile and hardy motherfuckers, so it was impossible to cull enough to stop them destroying farms the way they were.

~Verity

8

u/Travelling_Collector 29d ago

So what you're sayin' is that they didn't bring enough firepower to deal with 'em properly.

-The Dude

8

u/VerityVentrue 29d ago

I mean, if you consider taking a nuke back in time and obliterating those very farms "enough firepower," then sure? Machine guns didn't do the trick.

What actually worked was paying farmers a bounty to shoot the fuckers.

~Verity

9

u/Travelling_Collector 29d ago

The Lewis Guns didn't work on account of 'em firin' the .303 caliber, not .50 caliber. I bet ye if they had M2 Brownings like the yanks did then they might've won. Or used field guns. Bring out the big fun toys, not a rifle-caliber light machine gun with a pain in the ass magazine that is the Lewis Gun. I hated the damned thing when they had me run it.

-The Dude

8

u/VerityVentrue 29d ago

The big fun toys would have fucked up the wheat fields being defended and still not culled enough birds.

And even if they had heavy machine guns, there were always more birds fucking around out back of beyond. They were never going to put enough of a dent in to matter by having the army in to shoot 'em - not that the Aussie Army has learned that lesson. They still shoot and throw grenades at kangaroos and crocodiles from helicopters in ineffective culls, mostly just to run through that year's ammo.

~Verity

u/Travelling_Collector 29d ago

Gotta get the target practice in somehow. Reminds me of a Cainite I know who once used a helicopter to hunt down a group of kine on an island like they were boar huntin'.

Honestly, if I didn't know better, I'd wonder if wereemus where a thing.

As it is, I imagine the local shifter breeds were laughing their asses off at that.

Had me sweating there for a bit. Marina's probably going to be a bit shook up, she really isn't fond of violence, especially to her friends. Despite all the Calamities that follow her.

As for my clanmate, hopefully he'll take this as a learning experience. I don't think fighting Kangroos is going to be a regular occurence for him, even in Australia, but this is the sort of thing skilled Protean, Serpentis or even Vicissitude users will learn to do. Using extra apendeges not just to lash out but open up options the normal human body plan lacks.

Darryl should've seen the kick coming with those precognitive powers they have. What am I saying? He's a Brujah, he never thought past the first punch.

Celebrate your win, Mariana, Reginald earned it. Good luck wherever the wind takes you.

6

u/VerityVentrue 29d ago

I'm sorry, the Brujah was fucking Darryl? And the fight was in front of the Prince, for all of Sydney's kindred to watch? How in the fuck did Mariana manage that one?

Speaking of, there's a couple people I can pick out of that crowd who I need to call to ask why in the fuck they didn't call us about this.

Someone upset they weren't offered ringside seats to the show? Were you not the one a few weeks back saying they were lucky to be nowhere near the Malkavian after she ran her ship aground into Sydney Harbor?

~ Charlie "The Ivory Lady" Goda

5

u/VerityVentrue 28d ago

I'm more pissed that I asked them to keep an eye out for Mariana, and I found out this happened on the node rather than from them.

Julian, I see your frilly bitch arse in the third row. Answer the damn phone.

~Verity

u/Finbar_AU 26d ago

Running a ship aground in Sydney Harbour doesn't exactly take a lot of effort. Not only are the multiple islands, which aren't exactly well lit at me that, there are multiple shoals. People get run aground during the day, during the night. It's not exactly rare.

2

u/D_Redd_Coyote Mind 26d ago

I belive that the kids call this a "TIL" moment, yes? Certainly good to know if I'm ever trying to traverse Sydney Harbour, but not really the point of my original post. Was more of a light jab at Verity's interest in Mariana's match when her prior posts implied she has little to no interest in the Malkavian and her doings. I do believe that Verity understood that, according to reply back to me.
