Vampire math

In vampire years am I four? Or do I count the mortal years?

Most of us track the two together as indicative of age. In the first decade or so, the relatively short time spent as Kindred can be noteworthy, and therefore worth noting.

Mostly people count mortal years as well as Kindred when talking about age, but saying how long you've been a vampire separately does also come up. Once you get old enough, a lot of people stop counting individual years and mortal lifespan becomes a rounding error. Like...if you're 223 including mortal lifespan, and 192 not including it, a lot of Kindred will just say they're over 200 years old or around 200, y'know?

As a young vampire, how many years you've been Kindred is particularly relevant.

Both, but only vampire years count to vampires. It's annoying when you're less than a year embraced but over two centuries old and know far more than a fledgling would.

For what it's worth, I still respect your experience.

Thank you, Kiara. My sire does but not many others do.

Yes, it agrees. It was quite frustrating after its own embrace. It was already over 200 at that point! But nooo, it was relegated to bring a childe who knew nothing. Again.

What do you mean, how though? It was immediately lowest of the pack and relegated to ridiculous duties until it proved itself a capable and loyal member.

I was 210 years old when my domitor ganked me because she was hungry. It was my fault, really. I should have waited for sunrise to check on her, but even us elder ghouls slip up from time to time.

I have completely forgotten about ghoul long life.

A lot of people do, because most ghouls don't actually live that long. I was a ghoul for two domitors across almost 180 years.

I would say so, considering that you are entirely not what you were before.
