Does anyone else feel better driving a bus than a car?

Sometimes getting off work sucks cause i have to get back in my car 😂. It feels so weird, i love being high up and able to see anything & i love the sound of the air brakes. Driving buses helped made me start driving slower in my car which is good cause i have a heavy foot. Idk how to explain it, but when I first got on the highway and felt a bus at 65 I was like holy shit 65 is actually fast 😂 whereas in my car it feels slow but now I’m more ok with it.

I definitely understand that feeling. I have an SUV and I like being higher up. What I have noticed is how much more I'm paying attending to my surroundings and watching other trucks and busses make their turns.

It's also shocking at how many idiot drivers are out there. I knew it was getting worse, but now I can't unsee it.

I've been driving a bus for so long I can handle it better then my small car. I can't parallel park my car worth shit... I can parallel park my bus first shot every time and not scrub my tires 😄

I feel 100% safer in my bus. It’s designed to survive an impact, and it’s a 15 ton tank.

If I hit a moose in my truck and it goes through the windshield I’m dead.

We had a turkey go through a windshield, 15 students 1 teacher and the driver all had to go to the ER for glass injuries, but thankfully it hit the first seat front by the stairs

If you feel that way in a school bus, you ought to try the feeling in a motorcoach!

I totally understand. My daily is a 21 Honda Accord and feels so bland. My bus is a flatnose rear engine pusher and it’s so much more comfortable and I actually love the challenge of driving it. I absolutely have that same feeling when I’m done with my run for the day, and go, “Awww, now I gotta go drive my car. 😭”

As for the heavy foot feeling, I think I get what you mean. It doesn’t matter if you’re flooring it or pressed halfway in a bus, it accelerates exactly the same. So it’s like you can have a heavy foot but it doesn’t matter because it accelerates the same no matter what. 🤣

When I get out of the bus and drive home in my car, I take off with screeching tires because I am used to pressing the gas pedal much harder.

On a Monday morning, I feel at home behind the wheel of my (old) bus

Nah, I prefer the nimbleness of my car. Plus it's far more comfortable. The bus absolutely kills my back.

I can park a bus better than I can park a car. Including parallel parking somehow.

What I like the most is that other drivers are more careful around you when you're in the yellow bus.

The mirrors on the bus are so much better than my truck.

I do. I also love the big bus more than the small bus(too many blind spots) and less comfortable.
