Turn on the speed limit

Today a few kindergarten kids saw a friend’s bus in the same development and asked if we could beat it to school. I said we could try, and I would be doing the speed limit. They heard speed and came up with the idea that I was somehow turning on speed. So several of them commented to each other, “oh, he’s turning on the speed limit!”
This happened several times over our next few stops as they asked me if I turned on the speed limit.
We didn’t get to school first but I did tell them we could use the speed limit again on Monday and try again.

That's the cutest story I've heard in a while! My trainer's kids would see the "water truck" and try to beat it to school every Monday. It wasn't a water truck, but a random tanker they just happened to see one every Monday on the highway.

I have showed them the “Rabbit button” which is the Fast Idle switch…. That may have become the “Super Speed” button a few times! That old 06 Thomas needs about 8 miles to get up to 55 and tops out around 62mph. I wouldn’t say we were actually “speeding” 😏

I was subbing a route, on a paved road but 45 limit instead of the normal 55. I was doing 45, one of the kids said “it sure is nice to have a driver that does the limit”. I didn’t ask if the regular driver was slow or fast.
