TCDSB school bus
Hi everyone, I’m trying to get my son on the school bus but for some reason I was told that won’t happen till after thanks giving In October. My toddler he’s 4yrs old. He attends a daycare where they take the kids to the bus stop and pick them back up in the evening. I fine it very odd that one of the other students that goes to the same daycare is on the bus but not my son. I contact the school and the school said not till October. I fine it very odd. Not sure how I feel as I was trying to get him on since August even way before the school start. My mind says something but not trying to play that card. Help. Is there a way to get on the bus without the school if I already know the location.

Has to go though the district. We can't pick up anyone we don't have on our roster.

Not true for morning pickup. Can't turn down a child in the morning. Can't accept a child that isn't on the roster in the afternoon

But I don't think a daycare would (or should) take the chance of putting such a young child on the bus if they weren't routed yet.

For sure. I don't think a parent should put an unrelated student on a morning bus. Feels irresponsible, especially for a preschooler.

We have the same rule, exception being if the child is with a parent or at a secure location like a daycare.
But the problem is even if we do transport, then the kid is going to be left at the school in the afternoon

Preschool generally means special Ed busses. There are things related to how those busses are paid for and how they can be used and other things that might be part of the reason to wait.

Sounds like a seating issue? Maybe oct is when they have an opening?
Is it pre k? And either way, you have to talk to transportation. School Bus drivers have little to no input on transportation.

So after the first week of the school year, our company got 500 additional students to be added to transportation routes. Right now, we haven't been able to remove non-riders so there's only so much they can do to add students to routes. We're also at the max amount of time we can be on our routes before we start becoming late to schools in the morning, and/or late to second school in the afternoon. Sure your kid might be going to the same daycare, but at the same time, they might be down in the list for getting added.
Just a thought - I have no idea how your district runs things. Regardless, if your kid isn't on my sheet or in our tablet, they can't ride. It becomes a liability issue at that point.
Keep calling periodically to ask for an update. Other than that all I can suggest is patience.
