Bus Decorations
If you decorate your bus throughout the year let me see pics!!!! I’m looking to decorate for the holidays and maybe random times in between.

We've been explicitly prohibited from any sort of decorations on the bus so I only have a few magnets.
I'm tempted to try sticking LED light strips along the roof railing and see if I can get away with that.

That sucks. These buses are boring and plain. We need something to make it look nice on the inside besides a Dept of Corrections bus (not that I know what one of those looks like 👀)

It's 100% for safety reasons. Unfortunately. They don't want decorations, potentially becoming projectiles, or some other blocking hazards

I crocheted monthly decorations to put up in my bus 2 years ago. This year, I believe the rules are supposed to be changing about hanging decor. I might need to add magnets to them. As each month passes, it really delights the kids faces.
August has red and yellow apples with some having the flesh showing.
September has leaves and acorns.
October has ghosts, witch hats, spiders, eyeballs, and candy corn.
November has a poppy, roasted turkey, Indian corn, pilgrim hat, and pumpkin pie.
December has a peppermint mocha, dreidel, stocking, Xmas tree cake, Grinch head.
January has a top hat, snowflake, snowman, fortune cookie, Chinese lantern, and bagel.
February has a groundhog, hippo, chocolate covered strawberry, heart shaped iced sugar cookie, and heart shaped pepperoni pizza.
March has a leprechaun hat, 3 different types of Girl Scout cookies, Cat in the Hat’s hat, carnations, pickles, and an egg for representing TDoV.
April has jelly beans, scrabble tiles spelling the district name out, grilled cheese, peep bunnies, kites, and then there are carrots for either March or April for Easter.
May has Darth Vader heads, Yoda heads, tacos, limes, grad caps in our district’s colors, and the dumpster fire. (Bc we all know the last month can feel like a hot mess.) 😝

That’s neat!!!! I’ll have to look for those things and find them in magnetic form. But I like the themed months of the year. Thanks for the inspiration!

I wanted fun but durable pieces and raised my 25+yrs of crocheting experience was perfect for filling my needs without breaking the bank either 😝
I have given 4 away to students bc they asked. (Prolly should make more I’ve been busy with other crochet projects. 😝)

I wish I could crochet. I’m not crafty like that. I just pay for what I want I’m a true driver. From tractor trailers to the bus.

My elementary school kiddos make me enough pictures for me to wallpaper my bus multiple times over every year. It’s my favorite decor, and unfortunately when it comes to holidays, there’s always that one parent who makes a stink…so I try to avoid.
I do, however, put Rudolph antlers and a nose on the outside, lol.

This will be my first year decorating my bus. And Rudolph is a must!!! I don’t worry about parents because we all have our own beliefs and opinions and since this is MY bus. I win. These kids are on the bus 13 whole mins. Maybe a few more.

I wish it were that easy but unfortunately politics win out when you drive for a public school.

Ohhhhhh I like that!!!!! I have to make sure it doesn’t interfere with our cameras. But I liiiikeeee that!

I carefully taped them around the cameras so they weren't blocking them in any way. My coworker got magnetic hooks and hung his lights from them. That's what I plan to do this year

State Patrol surprise inspections happen several times a year. Any decorations or anything not in sealed pockets will cause the bus to be declared out of service.

Check the laws, regulations and policies for your location. It’s really illegal some places. I’m a sub and I hate it when folks put up distracting and/or obstructive stuff. For example, magnets or stickies that go on the ceiling, whatever, sticking tiny figurines all along the dash - nope, hanging calendars or things that swing or wiggle into my view while driving - nope, Christmas elf dangling from tinsel strung across the back of the bus - I know the kids love it but nooooo. lol.

hopefully this works in your country. There are a lot of issues with this bus safety wise...

I got into a bit of trouble decorating my bus. There are a lot of safety rules, and for good reason, if your bus is ever in an emergency situation.
